How to Practice SomaVeda Integrated Traditional Therapies® Thai Yoga  Under Corona Concerns

We have been receiving many queries from SomaVeda® Thai Yoga graduates and practitioners regarding how to practice or even whether they should practice at all during the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Some practitioners are located in states with “Lock Downs” and “Stay at Home Orders” and “Social Distancing” to one degree or another from quite harsh to little or no! There is no uniform strategy or solution being applied nationally. This is further complicated by local jurisdictions interpreting the “recommendations” of elected officials. In most states Massage Therapy as an industry has either been completely shut down or severely restricted, only being considered “essential” if a Licensed MD prescribes it for example… How often does that happen even in the best of times? My understanding is rarely if ever. Who can make a living like this? More than this who can help using their skills to heal their community like this?

So what are you to do as a practitioner?

Well, if your a smart and prepared practitioner you have been working under your NAIC Legal umbrella as an NAIC AFM Authorized Minister Practitioner. Because we who practice under NAIC are legal to offer our services and minister to our members! Yes, even under “shutdown” orders. Why is this? several reasons… I won’t do the whole “Legal Guidelines ” lecture here as it is located in class, in “The Book” and in other “Legal” articles I have posted here… but I will say it simply because of A) Somaveda® Thai Yoga is NOT legally defined as “Massage” and or “Massage Therapy” unless you call it so, and or market it as such on a personal basis (Shame of you!). and B) Under NAIC Tribal Org. It is a Religious Therapeutic Ministry and “Sacerdotal Duty” of NAIC as a healing ministry. As a “Religious Practice” our healing ministry is exempted overtly from most if not all legal restrictions… Even where there have been unconstitutional (illegal- unenforceable) restrictions on religious practices they still allow “Social Distancing” and “Safe Practices”.

First a reminder here! The primary outcomes of SomaVeda® Thai Yoga are “PromiiWihanSii” or the four divine states of mind! They are Love, Compassion, Joy and Equanimity. Do you have to physically touch or be present with an individual to show, to practice or to do this? No! This means you can practice at a distance, by phone, by video or in person but with a short separation between you!

The SomaVeda® training and certification you were given included in depth education in Eating, Nutrition, Energy healing, Energy Psychology (BET/ Tapping), concrete strategies for dealing with Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease as well as natural solutions for infections, pain and inflammation, toxicity and deficiency. Yes in class we emphasized the Marma Chikitsa or Hands-on, However, we do train all practitioners in the holistic Ayurveda based practices of indigenous, traditional medicine as well. When you can’t emphasize the hands on … what do you emphasize? Well, every thing else! There is currently no cure for Corona and there won’t be one anytime soon. Eventually, everyone is going to catch it and go through it however, they do. The most important strategy is not to try to avoid it, but to ensure that everyone who either has already been exposed or is going to be exposed (everyone) is as healthy in every way possible right now and if possible before they are infected.

This relates to “co-morbidity” i.e. the underlying, and or pre-existing medical and health conditions which complicate and exacerbate the progress and mortality possibility of Covid infections such as Diabetes, Heart Disease and Cancer, Immune Disorders or Syndromes, other unknown or “Sub-clinical” infections, Vaccine Injuries, Malnutrition, Toxicities and Deficiencies, chronic inflammatory conditions etc. From the basic certification you have the information to use for counseling on these issues!

Other established co-morbidities are STRESS! Depressions, Anxieties, Fears, Phobias, Rage and irrational anger, Addictions either alcohol, drugs or both! People are suicidal from despair and who is counseling them? You know the fundamentals of Energy Psychology i.e. BET/ EFT/ Tapping, a proven therapy you are legally authorized to do. If you did nothing but market and practice coaching and counseling people to Tapp on their emotional, mental issues you would be a God send.

Do everything, offer everything and find what your community wants and needs from you!

Under NAIC as an Authorized Full Blessed Member you are legal and able to do programs and sessions for your patients and clients using everything you have been given access to in your training and certification for Ministry. Yes that includes “hands-On”. But, no matter how you define or redefine your practice let it be a SomaVeda® practice. What I mean by that is a WHOLISTIC practice. I implore you to not define your practice as a “massage” , “Bodywork” or “rubbing on people for money” practice. A) That is NOT what SomaVeda® is. B) It is NOT what you were trained and or certified in. C)It is a misrepresentation of the Sacred art and entirely self limiting both for you and your clients.

My new lecture lesson series on “SomaVeda® 49 systems of Self Expression and Healing” offers many different way to take what you already know and have and format, emphasize and or market it in new and interesting ways both as service offerings and as profit centers for you!

Ayurveda is a comprehensive system of indigenous traditional medicine which has many solutions for Corona co-morbidty! If your SomaVeda® Advanced Practitioner and or Teacher you know this and have the training in Ayurveda therapy which you can counsel with.

Bottom line? If your not practicing under NAIC your on your own! Sorry, Best of luck to you negotiating the current shifting legal and health sands. If your an NAIC Authorized practitioner of any level then your legal to practice if you follow strictly all of the legal guidelines! I said IF. If you do not follow ALL of the guidelines you are simply not protected. This means every client, every single one has to be an NAIC Member… No exceptions. You have them join NAIC as an APM Member if they are not already one. Your clients can do this easily now with the New OnLine APM Registry at SomaVeda.Com. Additionally , every client, no exceptions must fill out and sign the NAIC Informed Consent and Waiver Form. You were given copies of this Consent form, additionally the form is found in the Practitioner DropBox. If you need a blank, contact the office. If legal protection was ever important it is doubly so now under the current conditions. If your not clear… go to the “Legal Guidelines” course at LearnThaiYoga and review the published materials.

Additional Suggestions:

* Keeping in mind your legal Exceptions for religious practice. Be sure to practice legally, and within all national and local laws and guidelines.
* Change your rules and regulations to comply with the law, and to be safe at all times. Make sure that all clients are NAIC Members and fill out both NAIC APM Membership and Informed Consent forms to follow your new guidelines.
* Consider taking the temperature of every client before they enter your practice room. Require clients to wash before entering the room and to wear a mask at all times. The therapist should also do the same if that is the only way to get them into your practice! Even though the wearing of mask by the public has been discredited by most national and international experts. Many ordinary people who watch way too much “news” still believe they need to for their safety. Sessions are for healing and therapy and we do need to provide a congenial and atmosphere that allows the clients to be relaxed… if that means wearing a mask then I will not turn away a client or church member because they feel they need to wear a mask. As a matter of policy NAIC does not require mask wearing for services for the obvious reasons.
* Change the way you perform SomaVeda® Thai Yoga. Avoid close contact with the client’s face or breath, and keep your face at a safe distance. Please Note: Having made the obligatory recommendations… Do you need to really be concerned with contracting and or spreading the “Virus”? NO! The risk as promoted by the media and official government hype is “hype”-er-bolic and completely and maliciously over blown and over stated. Unless your over age 80, with severe and chronic underlying issues such as diabetes, heart disease and or cancer etc. at the same time as you have a serious case, you will 80% never know or have the first symptom, same for everyone you know! My strongest recommendation is that IF your concerned then stay home and do what you think is right for yourself… however, beteer still is to take some of the “At Home” time and invest in becoming a “Corona Expert”! We have the training to assist you in this at LearnThaiYoga in the Natural Solutions for Corona, Flu and Novel Viral Infections course. I recommend this “Non-Hype” education into an issue that will be affecting your business and life for the far future!

* Consider using your feet and SomaVeda® T.A.E.L.R. (Tool Assisted Energy Line Release), instead of your hands. Consider working most of the session in side position, to maintain more distance between therapist and client, and to keep faces pointing away from each other.

* To what degree it is feasible, ensure plenty of fresh air and sunlight in the treatment area. Consider moving your mat, table or chair outdoors! Fresh air is good for many reasons.

* Make plenty of Colloidal Silver! Spray everything before and after, let “airdry” as a disinfectant.Do the same for your mask, gloves, face! Spray your mat. If you can not make your own silver because you never did invest in a Silver Maker as we taught in class, then you can order one now through the School or by the new “MIMIM Blue Sacred Water” at BeardedMedia.com… Best if you make your own for yourself and your clients!

* I am also recommending that you have a new mat or back up mat that can be cleaned and disinfected between sessions..These are the same type of mats now being used everywhere in Thailand today. We need to know the Pro’s and Cons. We need to know the risk and any possible rewards. This necessary information is not just for parents! Now that we are in the “Corona” age  amid the shrill tone, the hue and cry for a “universal” vaccine? What is the real story? I do not know all the details as the Vaccine landscape is changing from day to day. I can tell you the CDC, The FDA, The US HHS is not sharing the whole story, not by a long shot. This is going to be a long issue affecting us and our children for decades and we need to know the players, the agenda, the real science from the mouth of the worlds top experts and the risks heading our way so we can make informed decisions on our person, professional, familial and societal position in regard to making choices about the indiscriminate and possibly, forceful mandated vaccination programs on the horizon.

A little over twenty years ago, when my nephew was only about 2 years old he suffered an irreparable injury from a mandated vaccine cocktail. He was a precocious, active, talkative, walking, climbing, laughing, cuddly baby boy. No illnesses or underlying conditions… i.e. perfect bill of health. My Brother and sister in-law took him to the Pediatrician for his mandated “standard” vaccinations (see graphic)

 

Immediately upon receiving the last shot he started screaming and curled up into a little ball. He screamed as if gasoline had been poured on him and set on fire. Later I learned this type of screaming when in extreme pain has it’s own name… it’s called keening and is typical of sounds we make when in extreme pain before dying of trauma. He could not be consoled. He did eventually stop this continuous screaming … when he entered into a coma. He was in a coma for between 24 and 48 hrs. and when he recovered he was no longer the same child. He no longer could speak, was unresponsive to verbal or any other type of stimulation, would start screaming again if touched and would no longer make eye contact. He rocked and mostly cried. He could no longer crawl or walk.

The first time after this, the first time he offered to be touched and volunteered a hug to me, his uncle, was at my mom’s funeral 20 something years later! I can not say how much I was moved by the simple gesture.

He was diagnosed with severely affected “Rapid Onset” Autism Spectrum disorder and life with an autistic son and nephew began. The Doctors and nurses told us it was a random “act of God”, even though in real time the odds of having a sudden (within minutes) deterioration into a coma after receiving his vaccination, not being related to the vaccination are infinitesimally small. We learned later than not only did this “occasionally” happen, but it happened so often the Federal government has set up a “Vaccine Court” to settle the cases under gag orders. If the truth got out to the average person in the public… no one would risk the life and future of their own child.

I have been researching Vaccines for a solid fifteen years and have learned much. I have learned to hope. After learning that the likely suspect in my nephews Autism was in fact a vaccination, I also learned of research into9 reducing the harmful effects he had suffered and to lead him to be less severely affected and to be able to be restored to some health and productive life. Through primarily changes in diet and the use of supplements including specialized probiotic’s, I am proud to say he is doing terrific. Yes, he still has Autism and issues, but as a millenial Young man he now has a job, hobbies and is quite the savant when it comes to dinosaurs!

I want to pass on the information that I and hundreds of thousands of parents and concerned scientist from both the US and around the world have learned to date about Vaccinations! You are going to have to make informed choices in the not so distant future. I am not saying what you as an individual or parent should do other than if and when you need to make a choice make an informed one.

The Bad News! So far as of today… the risk of death associated with Covid exposure is proportional to complicating , underlying chronic and or acute pre-existing issues. As I read through the numbers I see the vast majority on morbid outcomes occur for those individuals who ALREADY have severe health issues before becoming infected… Keep in mind the reason why so many are surprised or shocked when people die is because they didn’t consider the underlying, chronic diseases the patient was already dying or at risk of dying of a serious!

Read the whole article…But then try to find a way to wrap your head around the idea that the greatest health risk by far of Covid-19 to you and everyone you know is underlying unresolved heath issues and the chemical prescription drugs used to treat or control them!

Pre and Co-Morbidity! Coupled with deficient nutrition and rampant malnutrition, poor diet consisting of “Franken-foods” GMO’s, Artificial everything, anything, artificial sweeteners, out right malnutrition from common deficiencies of vitamin, minerals, Iodine, vitamin D, C etc. Lack of grounding, lack of sunshine, lack of fresh air, lack or insufficient exercise including load bearing and aerobic, chronic dehydration, insufficient deep sleep, Chronic constipation, Chronic Diarrhea, Gut Dysbiosis, Pre and Pro-biotics out of balance, ELF/ EMF Harmful energy exposure, Radiation from Chernobyl and Fukoshima… Don’t forget the many common Chemical Drugs/ Pharmaceutical that are known to shut down critical immune system functions…

Add in a real infectious vector Corona… Well you get the picture, right? It’s a perfect storm and the big numbers start to make sense!

The Good News! The solution? What we have been saying literally for the past 50 years. Concepts which still appear “novel” to the mainstream medical community and or industry. Conceptes which are labeled at best CAM i.e. complimentary and alternative medicine practices and at worst “Quackery”. What these all share in common is that they provide relatively safe, predictable and functional medicinal outcomes towards reducing or eliminating underlying chronic and or acute health issues with little or NO risk of associated death. They share aims for example to KEEP YOU OUT OF THE Hospital, the emergency room.

What to do until or while your waiting for an appointment for counseling or treatment protocol from your chosen provider?

  1. Follow all “Stay at Home” or social distancing guidelines recommended by your local authorities… Remember Corona is real! These guidelines will also reduce any exposure to ANY other contagion such as the common FLU which can Kill You!
  2. Wear a mask in public… Clean and re-sterilize your mask regularly: Wash with hot soapy water, rinse, dry in regular over at 130degrees for at least 20 min. Spray with Colloidal Silver and let air dry. However! Do Not mistake this recommendation as a “Health Recommendation”! It is NOT!   3. If you have a fever Do Not Go Out… Do Not Socialize and observe a voluntary stay at home. There are many reason other than Corona to have a fever, but for the care of those you love stay at home if you have a fever.
  4. Wash Your Hands Frequently… There are many guides to this now that everyone is an expert! If unsure if your doing it right… go to YouTube and search!
  5. Stay Healthy, drink plenty of water, eat right, get rid of the junk food, go outside, get plenty of sunshine, be happy , have some fun, enjoy your family and your pets!
  6. Take your supplements! Now is not the time to be slack! If you need to order or restock, do so now as delivery times could be slower for a while. Take those minerals, Iodine, Vitamen C, D, Zinc. Take your probiotics.
  7. Manage your diabetes by eating a mostly plant based diet. If necessary take a fortified meal supplement with digestive enzymes.
  8. Eat more Sprouts!
  9. Use an Infrared Sauna or Infrared Lamp, Bio-Mat etc.
  10. DO NOT take any drug as protection AGAINST infection! Remember ALL Chemical Drugs and or Vaccines have serious adverse effects! Don’t take any drug unless you know what those side effects, even death, are and are making an informed decision.

Primary Immune disorder:

Usually inherited or caused by problems in genes of cells in the immune system, Characterized by infections that are severe, recurrent, and challenging to treat, More common than cystic fibrosis, affecting 1 in 1,200 people in the US:

AIDS/ HIV

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID): People with CVID have decreased levels of antibodies (immunoglobulins) in the blood and are therefore more likely to get infections.

X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA): People with XLA—an inherited form of PI—have very few B cells, which are specialized white blood cells that help protect the body against  infection.

Immune globulin G (IgG) Subclass Deficiency: IgG is divided into 4 subclasses: IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4. People are said to have an IgG subclass deficiency when they lack or have very  low levels of 1 or more IgG subclasses, but their total IgG levels are normal.

Hyper-IgM (HIGM) Syndrome: People with HIGM syndrome have an excess of IgM and reduced levels of other immunoglobulins, including IgG and immune globulin A (IgA).

Selective IgA Deficiency: One of the most common types of PI in Caucasians, selective IgA deficiency, often goes undiagnosed in some people because they are never  sick enough to be seen by a doctor. Others, however, may develop a variety of challenges that need medical attention.

Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID): SCID, a serious form of PI, is a rare syndrome with multiple genetic causes.

Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome: Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome is a PI disease that affects both the T and B lymphocytes.

DiGeorge Syndrome: DiGeorge syndrome is a PI disease caused by abnormal formation of certain tissues during fetal development. The defect may affect the thymus  gland and impair production of T lymphocytes.

Ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T): A-T is a PI disease that affects a number of organs.

          Drug-induced interstitial lung disease

Symptoms of Drug-induced interstitial lung disease: dry cough and shortness of breath due to interstitial lung disease, an imaging study may be ordered. A CT scan of the chest would show changes (reticular or ground-glass opacities). Pulmonary function tests may also be ordered by your physician, which can show moderate-to-severe decreases in carbon monoxide diffusion capacity.

  • Allergic reactions — asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, or eosinophilic pneumonia
  • Bleeding into the lung air sacs, called alveoli (alveolar hemorrhage)
  • Swelling and inflamed tissue in the main passages that carry air to the lungs (bronchitis)

  • Drugs that cause the immune system to mistakenly attack and destroy healthy body tissue, such as drug-induced lupus erythematosus
  • Granulomatous lung disease — a type of inflammation in the lungs
  • Inflammation of the lung air sacs (pneumonitis or infiltration)
  • Lung vasculitis (inflammation of lung blood vessels)
  • Lymph node swelling
  • Swelling and irritation (inflammation) of the chest area between the lungs (mediastinitis)
  • Abnormal buildup of fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Buildup of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity (pleural effusion)

Many medicines and substances are known to cause lung disease in some people. These include:

  • Antibiotics, such as nitrofurantoin and sulfa drugs
  • Heart medicines, such as amiodarone
  • Chemotherapy drugs such as bleomycin, cyclophosphamide, and methotrexate
  • Street drugs

Drug-induced pulmonary disease is not a single disorder, but rather a common clinical problem in which a patient without previous pulmonary disease develops respiratory symptoms, chest x-ray changes, deterioration of pulmonary function, histologic changes, or several of these findings in association with drug therapy. Over 150 drugs or categories of drugs have been reported to cause pulmonary disease; the mechanism is rarely known, but many drugs are thought to provoke a hypersensitivity response. Some drugs (eg, nitrofurantoin) can cause different injury patterns in different patients.

Depending on the drug, drug-induced syndromes can cause interstitial fibrosis, organizing pneumonia, asthma, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, pleural effusionspulmonary eosinophiliapulmonary hemorrhage, or veno-occlusive disease (see Table: Substances With Toxic Pulmonary Effects).

List of Drugs that cause Lung and Heart Injury

Amiodarone is the most common heart drug that causes pulmonary abnormalities. Used for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, pulmonary toxicity affects as many as 6% of individuals on amiodarone. Among these cases, fatality rates range from 10-20%. Eek. A safer, similar medication used for atrial fib is Multaq (dronedarone) which is more expensive than amiodarone but may be a better first choice given the lower risk of lung injury.

Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) is a commonly prescribed antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin has been linked to both acute and chronic lung injury, believed to be a hypersensitivity reaction from the drug.

Methotrexate (Rheumatrex) is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis as well as other serious skin conditions and carries a known risk of acute interstitial pneumonia.

Biologic agents. Cetuximab (Erbitux), bevacizumab (Avastin), trastuzumab (Herceptin) and alemtuzumab (Lemtrada) are just a few of many in this newer class of medications that have been reported to cause drug induced interstitial lung disease. Again, these are medications used for serious illnesses like cancer and accepting the rare risk of interstitial lung disease may be “worth” it as you will be closely monitored.

Seizure medications. Phenytoin (Dilantin) and carbamazepine (Tegretol)—which is also used to treat pain from trigeminal neuralgia or shingles—are both known to cause drug-induced acute interstitial pneumonitis.

Aspirin and other NSAIDS (ibuprofennaproxen) may cause acute pulmonary hypersensitivity reactions which may occur within the first week of treatment—or as late as three years after first exposure.

Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Bactrim) is a sulfonamide-containing antibiotic used for bacterial infections. It is a rare cause of drug-induced interstitial lung disease.

Hydralazine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure, and cases of nonspecific interstitial pneumonias have been reported.

Cholesterol medications aka “Statins.” This is tricky because while drug-induced interstitial lung disease has been reported with most statins including pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and atorvastatin (Lipitor), they have also been shown in studies to be associated with lower mortality in people with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis.

Diabetes Drugs:

Reported May 29, 2020, 4 p.m. Those with NDMA (N-Nitrosodimethylamine/ dimethylnitrosamine) formula: (CH₃)₂NNO were recalled and or banned worldwide. The Drugs listed are Metformin, ZANTAC (ranitidine) and other AND GENERIC ZANTAC OTC RANITIDINE DRUGS. All of the following can exacerbate, mask or contribute to Corona symptoms, course and severity, add to complications and complicate treatment of Corona. However many Doctors are still prescribing! I personally interviewed a past VP Pharmacology of CVS Pharmacy, who told me emphatically it is scientifically and procedurally impossible to calculate the side effects, adverse reactions and co-morbidity of three or more drug simultaneously.

Considering that the average person in the US (48.4%) takes at least One drug per month more than 36.6% of person in the US take between 3 and 5 prescription chemical drugs per month (CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/drug-use-therapeutic.htm) it doesn’t take a science degree to see that 100% of all of these are likely to have one or more adverse effects and 36.6 % will likely have severe and complicated, un predictable list of adverse effects just from the drugs alone.

Let’s not forget the OTC Meds, NSAIDS etc. like the recently banned “Zantac” which also have a huge list of adverse effects including death.

List of side effects, adverse effects of Artificial Sweeteners: 

Studies have suggested an association between the use of non-nutritive sweeteners and health outcomes (such as body weight, diabetes, cancer, and oral health)… See earlier in this article references for these specific issues relating to co-morbidity!

According to Dr. Osborne: “Current research is limited on the beneficial effects and the long term health risks associated with the ingestion of artificial sweeteners. However, cyclamate (an early artificial sweetener), was banned by the FDA in 1970 due to carcinogenic risks in experimental animals. With this ban, the artificial sweetener market took a hit. Consumers were left scared knowing there could be a cancer risk associated with ingestion of artificial sweeteners. Shortly after, manufacturers replaced one toxic artificial sweetener with new equally toxic sweetener. Many consumers report headaches, dizziness, rashes, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and digestive problems after ingesting artificial sweeteners. These side effects could build up over time and cause serious long term diseases with regular consumption of these processed sugars.

Currently, the great debate is between the FDA and scientists. In a study determining the effects of saccharin, sucralose and aspartame consumption in both mice and humans, the ingestion of artificial sweeteners altered microbial metabolic pathways6. Studies indicated glucose intolerance was elevated due to changes in gut microbiota. Gut health has to be optimal in order to maintain a healthy immune system and normal metabolic functions in our body.  Such metabolic functions include maintaining normal blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels. More studies need to be conducted, but scientists believe that there is also a relationship between sweeteners and certain cancers, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, autism, and systemic lupus. 

In numerous studies observing weight loss with the ingestion of artificial sweeteners, there is not enough proof that consumption is beneficial in weight management2. Studies are able to show short-term weight loss, but lack any long term weight loss results. However, consumers are still consuming artificial sweeteners in order to reduce their caloric intake with the intent of weight loss based on physician’s recommendations.

Artificial Sweeteners can also develop into an addiction. These processed sugars are 200-13,000 times sweeter than regular sugar5. Over time, the consumption of these artificial sweeteners can alter taste buds and result in a constant craving for foods that are overly sweet. More nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables become less palatable, so less nutritious sugar-free substitutes and carbohydrates are consumed instead. Consequently, risks for nutrient deficiencies and weight gain increase.”

Hi everyone and good day! Yes, almost everyone (those paying attention) is concerned with the Covid-19 pandemic now consuming the air waves of every news channel! And rightly so!  How is this all going to pan out? For most it is a bit uncertain in the short term. For the long, well, it’s going to work out! How do I know this? It always has and always does! This is not the first pandemic of epic proportions and risk to all nor will it be the last.

When we look at the functional, indigenous traditional medicine histories of the past we know that Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Native American Medicine as well as Homeopathy and Nature Cure (i.e. Traditional Naturopathy), especially as found in the Christian Monastic Medicine traditions of the Hospitaller’s (Founder of the Modern “Hospital” concept and “Nursing” weathered in some cases MANY pandemics.

The knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of surviving epidemics has not changed, not been lost just because the “times” have changed. Yes, we do have modern medicine and “medical respirators”, although we have a shortage of individuals who know how to operate these high tech life saving devices.

Disclaimer: This is a theoretical article and opinion about how far can Ayurveda (Ayurveda of Thailand and Thai Yoga i.e. Traditional Thai Massage) be useful in preventing, reducing and/ or treating the symptoms of SARS-2  Covid-19. We are not claiming to prevent or to cure it. Do not follow any advice given in the article (or any part of our website) without consulting your doctor. We have not cured any patients of Corona virus with the treatments discussed below, neither do we claim that these treatment ideas cure it or prevent. Consider it as a mere conceptual article and our learned opinion. However, we have reports of many people no longer suffering, sick or diing who are following these protocols!

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga and Ayurveda Solutions for Corona Issues

Please note the following recommendations are in addition to the really good overall advise and NAIC Monastic Medical Recommendation’s guidelines as well as legal edicts as per governmental authorities. All health and medical recommendation’s on an individual level must follow your personal physicians recommendations.

So… best bet for most people is to:

A) Reduce your exposure! This concept of physically limiting your direct risk of infection by creating and maintaining physical space (6 to 10ft.) from vectors (source of infection/ carriers) whether directly known or unknown… i.e. Social (Physical) distancing to a reasonable degree, is valid and useful in the small and the big picture of slowing down exposure rates in the general population. However, I say within reason for a reason. Our entire lives are built on and based on socialization and social interaction… It is simply not possible for the greater population to sequester and isolate. Income level, access to deliveries… especially a condition for rural and or remote areas! No “Grub Hub” or “Uber Eats” in these areas. Maybe your a “Prepper” maybe not. But all of us need to be somewhat on the “prepper” train right now  and for some unforeseeable future. No matter what your up to reduce your social activities to those activities which support health and self sufficiency as best you can. Many “essential” infrastructure persons from health providers to first responders will have the same issues as most of us while being required to get out there in high risk environments… no choice. My advise to these persons is do what you can aside from your job responsibilities to take care of your self and your family! You now have multiple jobs in that you have a public responsibility and still need to take care of your own households.

  1. Avoid total isolation: While we need to exercise caution in regard to large gatherings and social interactions, our health can suffer if we isolate ourselves completely. Social isolation, Social Distancing disrupts the functioning of the vagus nerve—the brain-gut connection that regulates our immune system and our response to stress. Try to maintain a sense of social connectedness by engaging in small and safe social gatherings, eating meals with your family or a few friends, and avoiding over-reliance on electronic socialization. Above all, stay calm and open hearted while observing these commonsense precautions which might be prudent for any “Flu or Flu type -Bug”:

    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

    • Wash your hands frequently.

    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

    • Stay home when you are sick.

    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue; then throw the tissue in the trash.

    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using soap and water or household cleanser.

    • Keep bundled up and warm during cold weather.

B) Be healthy… If your not? Ask yourself “Why am I not healthy?” if the answer is anything that has been in your power and means to correct… get on it! Every health expert including myself will tell you that your baseline of health and wellness will be a contributing factor in both your personal susceptibility and if and when exposed (and you will be), you experience as virulence, degree of illness and risk of death. We here at the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine and Thai Yoga Center have been teaching all of these concepts for years! Those of you who are graduates from our programs and especially my classes have heard me tirelessly and repetitively tell to to get your personal health in order.

Do the medicine you have been taught. Use the resources you have been given to get healthy i.e. “Physician, Heal Thy Self” as both a pre-condition and as a formal condition towards healing others. Those of you who have followed the teachings are now in excellent shape to deal with the current crises… those of you who followed lackadaisically or didn’t think it was important enough to double down and master the ancient and modern medicine teaching given are now in the same boat as everyone else, those who did not have education, those who don’t have a clue!

You may not like this! I want to say that those graduates  and or former students who exclusively have chosen to re-define our SomaVeda Indigenous Traditional Medicine® Thai Yoga as exclusively “Bodywork” and or “Massage” are just now wishing you had paid more attention to the parts of the program dealing with immune system, nutrition, supplementation, detoxification and counseling… You know who you are! However, all is forgiven. Break out your notebooks, text and course materials and dig deep into your notes for solutions you can do right now and which you can use as a basis for counseling! Now is the time to build and redirect into the counseling services your qualified and authorized to do which do not require physical contact and or even being in the same room! You can counsel by phone appointment, “Skype”, FB Live, “Insta” Live, Twitter or whatever format works best for your communications with your clients.

For example, it is proven clinically and scientifically that improving your emotional/ mental health has an immediate and direct impact of your immune system function and overall health and wellbeing. We have an amazing technology called B.E.T./ EFT and or “Energy Psychology” which EVERY SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Certified Practitioner at EVERY practice level is required to learn and know! Now is the time to put that training and secondary certification/ scope of practice to use. Who does not need professional counseling on their negative and old unresolved negative emotional issues, fears, phobia, anxiety issues right now? Those therapist who are paying attention are scheduling paid professional consultation by phone and on-line. If your not… ask your self “Why not?”

A big part of what it means to be able to help bring healing to others is to “Work on Your Self”. Use the “Tapping” to build your own stability and remove confusion and irrational fear to better enable your own clarity to make better decisions during difficult times. Yes physical distance can be helpful… however, do not isolate yourself from your own healing practices and certainly do not be one of those “Healers” who in a crises disappears or is other wise “Not Available”. If your a trained healer, minister or Practitioner Therapist now is the time to prove your metal. Put up or shut up. Help or admit defeat to your lack of discipline and either immediately start supporting those who can do the work or get out of the way. If these words seem strong or critical, then so be it. This current time and pandemic is EXACTLY what we have been training for. This is why true healers, practicing authentic, genuine medicine have been training for. I hope with all my heart that you, my current and former students choose to step up and not out!

I want to recommend for the “Self Work” part of the equation right now my book “Angels Speak, The Art and Work of Crafting Consciousness“. Take some of the “Free Time” you now have because you may not be able to “rub on people” for money and continue to educate yourself on how to work on yourself in such a way as to reconnect to being able to contribute in difficult times.

IMPORTANT ALERT: If you are, and or define your professional livelihood as a “Massage” person my heart goes out to you as the massage industry is experiencing a huge crash which is likely to continue for the future. Non-medical, non-essential touching for esthetics, relaxation and or “therapy” may even be banned by the government in the near future.

Health officials recommend relying on good judgment and “social distancing” to keep ourselves safe. Yet even as we limit our social interactions, it’s important to remember that we are all in this together. This realization is essential to our well-being. Throughout the long history of humankind (and of the animal kingdom, too) those who learned to collaborate and intelligently adapt have prevailed.

Ayurveda provides us with a host of ways to ramp up our immune system. Here are a few tips that may not be the first you would think of! Take a look, and please reach out to me if you have any questions.

  1. Support your agni: Our digestive system is the root of good health. Help keep it in good working order with plenty of whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat three nourishing meals a day. Breakfast should be warm and easy to digest, lunch should be your largest meal of the day, and dinner should consist of a light, warm, and easily assimilated dish, such as a soup, or lightly steamed veggies and rice. Stay away from processed foods, sugars, and heavy, oily foods. Dairy foods can also be problematic due to their mucus-forming properties.

  2. Consume a small amount of Trikatu daily before lunch: Trikatu is a Sanskrit word meaning “three spices” or “three peppers.” Trikatu is an Ayurvedic blend of equal parts of the fruits of black pepper (Piper nigrum), long pepper (Piper longum), and the rhizomes of ginger (Zingiber officinale). Its many benefits include the following:

  • Helps to clear excess kapha or mucus from the body
  • Supports healthy digestive, circulatory, and respiratory functioning
  • Helps rekindle agni (digestive fire)
  • Boosts metabolism
  • Scrapes away excess fat tissue (helpful for weight management)
  • Helps remove impurities and toxins (ama) from the body

  1. Take amalaki: Amalaki (a.k.a. amala) contains a number of health-enhancing nutrients, including vitamin C and other antioxidants. Amalaki is widely available for purchase online as well as from stores that specialize in  natural foods or dietary supplements. Buy herbs here.

  2. Enjoy tulsi tea throughout your day: Tulsi, or holy basil, is a delicious form of basil that not only is a respiratory tonic, but also has antiviral qualities. It is also acts as a powerful nervine tonic that can help soothe anxiety, relieve stress, and rejuvenate the nervous system. Buy herbs here.

  3. Get good sleep: Sleep is of equal importance to two other key aspects of health: proper nutrition and regular exercise. This vital trio—nutrition, exercise, and sleep—form the three pillars of health. Sleep deprivation suppresses production of the infection-fighting cytokines, antibodies, and cells that are your body’s first line of defense against the virus.

  • It is advised to consume Samskrithamadhu (Ayurvedic Honey) with lime in warm water daily in the morning to keep the whole digestive tract healthy. Actually all Wild , Unprocessed Honey is Ayurvedic! Look for the wildest, unprocessed, local honey that you can find. Use liberally in a variety of forms from topically to orally as a medicant. Of course you can also forget that it is a traditional medicine and just use in your tea, coffee or as a snack!
  • As per Sushruta Sutrasthana 45/132 and Ashtanga Hrudaya Sutrasthana 5/51-52:
  • Madhura – sweet
  • Kashaya Anurasa -astringent sub taste
  • Rooksha -dry
  • Sheeta – coolant
  • Improves appetite and digestive fire (Agnideepanam)

  • Vrana shodhana -cleanses wounds
  • Vrana sandhana, ropana – heals wound quickly
  • Vatala -increases Vata
  • Ruksha – dry
  • Kashaya, Madhura – astringent and sweet
  • As per Charaka, it is one of those ingredients, that can be taken on a daily basis. (Pathya). (Reference: Charaka Samhita Sutrasthana 5/12 )
  • Drink warm freshly boiled water with Cinnamon, Clove, Cardamom, Ginger, Black Pepper, and Star Anise. These spices improve digestion and are antimicrobial.Fresh Tumeric roots
  • Add fresh Turmeric to your soups or prepare fresh Turmeric Pickle with each meal. Turmeric apart from its anti-inflammation properties is also very good at improving our digestion.
  • Chyavanaprasam (is a good source of C vitamin) – useful for deficient immune disorders, respiratory ailments (also useful in debilitating diseases where the immunity goes down drastically).
    Those who cannot take ghee/sugar of Chyavanaprasam may take Tiktakam Kwatham morning and evening. It is an ancient Ayurvedic herbal supplement tablet that is robustly anti-viral.
  • Agastya Rasayana (Leham) – useful for general debility, respiratory ailments including bronchial asthma, hiccup, cough
  • Dasamula Arishtam after lunch and dinner- is a very powerful and potent health tonic to boost immunity as well as strengthen the lungs and the respiratory system.
  • Pippalya Asavam is a very potent health tonic to kindle the digestive fire
  • But the best way to develop Immunity is to cook fresh vegetables especially sourced from a local organic farm. SCNM- Thai Yoga Center Coronavirius May Update for Thai Yoga Center Program Participants!

You’ve likely heard about the Coronavirus (officially called “2019-Novel Coronavirus” or “COVID-19”) in the news. While the immediate health risk remains low to Americans and there isn’t a vaccine yet, there are still ways that you can help prevent the spread of this virus.

With the recent increased attention to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in both local and national media, we wanted to reach out with information, and also request to PLEASE contact us to reschedule your certification program or retreat, if you are sick or feeling under the weather. PLEASE wait until you have made a full recovery.

Most airlines are allowing rescheduling flights during this season with little or no penalty. If your not clear as to whether you should postpone your class, call Dr. James directly at (706) 358-8646.

There are only three cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Florida at this time in the Tampa Bay Area, Florida is still considered a low risk, and there is no cause for alarm; however, we are encouraging all our guests and staff members to be proactive. Especially since we are having guests from all over the country traveling through airports. With it also being flu and cold season, our staff is already been instructed on best practices for preventing transmission of respiratory and other illness, and we would like to share this important information with you: 

To prevent the spread of this illness or other illnesses, including the flu:

  • Avoid close contact with others who are sick;
  • Stay home when your sick
  • Cover nose and mouth with a tissue when cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water (thoroughly for 20 seconds). If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer (60% alcohol)
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth as germs are spread this way
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs
  • Avoid sharing food and drinks with others.
  • See your doctor if you think you’re ill (symptoms, fever, cough especially if your in a high risk area).

Please remember, everyone with flu like symptoms or a fever should stay home.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Certified Practitioner Program:CTP (164 hour residential intensive). This 17 day, ( November 8th. to November 24th. 2019) program covered all four levels of the Basic Professional Thai Yoga Certificate Program plus 20 additional breakout and/or supplemental courses. The CTP1 course is an intensive training based on Traditional Thai Massage, Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Indigenous, Traditional, Natural and Native American Medicine.
