New Updated! June 12, 2022

The Bad News! So far as of today… the risk of death associated with Covid exposure is proportional to complicating , underlying chronic and or acute pre-existing issues. As I read through the numbers I see the vast majority on morbid outcomes occur for those individuals who ALREADY have severe health issues before becoming infected… Keep in mind the reason why so many are surprised or shocked when people die is because they didn’t consider the underlying, chronic diseases the patient was already dying or at risk of dying of a serious!

Read the whole article…But then try to find a way to wrap your head around the idea that the greatest health risk by far of Covid-19 to you and everyone you know is underlying unresolved heath issues and the chemical prescription drugs used to treat or control them!

Pre and Co-Morbidity! Coupled with deficient nutrition and rampant malnutrition, poor diet consisting of “Franken-foods” GMO’s, Artificial everything, anything, artificial sweeteners, out right malnutrition from common deficiencies of vitamin, minerals, Iodine, vitamin D, C etc. Lack of grounding, lack of sunshine, lack of fresh air, lack or insufficient exercise including load bearing and aerobic, chronic dehydration, insufficient deep sleep, Chronic constipation, Chronic Diarrhea, Gut Dysbiosis, Pre and Pro-biotics out of balance, ELF/ EMF Harmful energy exposure, Radiation from Chernobyl and Fukoshima… Don’t forget the many common Chemical Drugs/ Pharmaceutical that are known to shut down critical immune system functions…

Add in a real infectious vector Corona… Well you get the picture, right? It’s a perfect storm and the big numbers start to make sense!

Add in a real infectious vector Corona… It’s a perfect storm and the big numbers start to make sense!

The Good News! The solution? What we have been saying literally for the past 50 years. Concepts which still appear “novel” to the mainstream medical community and or industry. Conceptes which are labeled at best CAM i.e. complimentary and alternative medicine practices and at worst “Quackery”. Concepts such as Indigenous, traditional, Natural and Holistic Medicine and Health practices which reduce both the frequency, duration and morality of over 90% of the underlying chronic and acute issues which contribute to mortality (Death) including “Physician” caused death by malpractice and prescribing of harmful chemical and toxic drugs.

These CAM practices come by many names: Ayurveda, Traditional Thai Ayurveda- Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Yunani Medicine, Hilot Medicine, Naturopathy and Nature Cure Medicine, Monastic Medicine and or Religious Therapeutics, Native American Medicine, Herbology, Aroma-therapy, Acupressure, Light therapy, PEMF (Pulsed Electro-magnetic Therapy), Homeopathy, Chelation Therapy, Nutrition Therapy, Health Coach etc. These are all recognized by The Who, provide care for billions of people to some degree or another in the world today. What these all share in common is that they provide relatively safe, predictable and functional medicinal outcomes towards reducing or eliminating underlying chronic and or acute health issues with little or NO risk of associated death. They share aims for example to KEEP YOU OUT OF THE Hospital, the emergency room.

Short Term, What Do I DO? Sixteen Helpful Suggestions from the Doctor!

What to do until or while your waiting for an appointment for counseling or treatment protocol from your chosen provider?

  1. In many states “social Distancing” guidelines and restrictions have recently been found to be unconstitutional and not based on science or sound medicine practice! Check your local and state guidelines to see if you live in a state where the Governor’s mandates have been found to be illegal and unscientific and or current status.
  2. Do NOT wear a mask in public… It is not scientifically valid and for many causes far more harm than good! (See Video: Why are We Wearing Mask?) If you must wear a mask… Clean and re-sterilize your mask regularly: Wash with hot soapy water, rinse, dry in regular over at 130degrees for at least 20 min. Spray with Colloidal Silver and let air dry. However! Do Not mistake this recommendation as a “Health Recommendation”! It is NOT! Wearing a Mask, any mask for a prolonged time causes Hypoxia and oxygen starvation which begins immediately to cause harm…Watch this video… Truth Bombs! Rant #2: Why Are We Wearing Mask?
  3. If you have a fever Do Not Go Out… Do Not Socialize and observe a voluntary stay at home. There are many reason other than Corona to have a fever, but for the care of those you love stay at home if you have a fever. This should be common sense.
  4. Wash Your Hands before and after each session… There are many guides to this now that everyone is an expert! If unsure if your doing it right… go to YouTube and search!
  5. Stay Healthy, drink plenty of water, eat right, get rid of the junk food, go outside, get plenty of sunshine, be happy , have some fun, enjoy your family and your pets!
  6. Take your supplements! Now is not the time to be slack! If you need to order or restock, do so now as delivery times could be slower for a while. Take those minerals, Iodine, Vitamen C, D, Zinc. Take your probiotics. Ask about our Ayurveda, Chinese medicine and Herbal Medicine support recommendation’s!
  7. Manage your diabetes by eating a mostly plant based diet. If necessary take a fortified meal supplement with digestive enzymes.
  8. Eat more Sprouts!
  9. Use an Infrared Sauna or Infrared Lamp, Bio-Mat etc.
  10. DO NOT take any drug as protection AGAINST infection! Remember ALL Chemical Drugs and or Vaccines have serious adverse effects! Don’t take any drug unless you know what those side effects, even death, are and are making an informed decision.
  11. Obtain a Nebulizer for both O2 therapy and or Colloidal Silver if need be.
  12. Work on your emotional, mental and or psychiatric health and stay balanced! Use your BET/ Tapping/ EFT/ Energy Psychology to stay healthy and happy on the inside.
  13. Let go of the minute by minute social diarrhrea and endless news updates… Once you know what your dealing with and where the real risk are coming from, then that is your point of focus! One more statistic is NOT going to assist you in either not becoming sick or dying of Corina!
  14. Spend time with attractive and positive people! Phone, video, yelling over the fence! However, you can do it. Socializing is also a necessary part of an over all health plan.
  15. Get real help for your pain issues! Back pain, neck pain, Knee pain… whatever it is there is a CAM Provider who can follow a safe protocol and treat your pain. Don’t suffer in silence because you don’t have to.
  16. Make that appointment for a personal consultation. Most good SomaVeda® Thai Yoga, Ayurveda, TCM, Chiropracters, Holistic Health Coaches and Nutritionist Counselors are really busy right now, so you likely will have to plan ahead.
  17. Schedule and start a SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapeutic Protocol with an NAIC Authorized Professionally Certified Professional to both reduce underlying health issues and build support for proper immune system function, to de-compress, de-stress and bring a joy for living back into your life!

In fact many hospitals and emergency rooms are turning sick people who are not severe and obviously infection (option) as it is. So where are these people, where are you and your family and or patient to turn to at this time? I say… same place recommended last year, and the year before… US! The holistic CAM provider is more your resource now than ever before. We are everywhere and in reality not hard to find. Seek out your provider and get cracking with some helpful counseling and therapy today. Don’t continue to procrastinate resolving the underlying health issues that yesterday might not have seemed so important but which today could contribute to taking your life!

Please note: I am not going to attempt to list all of the sources here! It’s overwhelming. There are literally thousands of scholarly and or scientific literature describing th morbidity and co-morbidity or these complication health issues.

Primary Immune disorder:

Usually inherited or caused by problems in genes of cells in the immune system, Characterized by infections that are severe, recurrent, and challenging to treat, More common than cystic fibrosis, affecting 1 in 1,200 people in the US:

AIDS/ HIV

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID): People with CVID have decreased levels of antibodies (immunoglobulins) in the blood and are therefore more likely to get infections.

X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA): People with XLA—an inherited form of PI—have very few B cells, which are specialized white blood cells that help protect the body against  infection.

Immune globulin G (IgG) Subclass Deficiency: IgG is divided into 4 subclasses: IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4. People are said to have an IgG subclass deficiency when they lack or have very  low levels of 1 or more IgG subclasses, but their total IgG levels are normal.

Hyper-IgM (HIGM) Syndrome: People with HIGM syndrome have an excess of IgM and reduced levels of other immunoglobulins, including IgG and immune globulin A (IgA).

Selective IgA Deficiency: One of the most common types of PI in Caucasians, selective IgA deficiency, often goes undiagnosed in some people because they are never  sick enough to be seen by a doctor. Others, however, may develop a variety of challenges that need medical attention.

Severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID): SCID, a serious form of PI, is a rare syndrome with multiple genetic causes.

Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome: Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome is a PI disease that affects both the T and B lymphocytes.

DiGeorge Syndrome: DiGeorge syndrome is a PI disease caused by abnormal formation of certain tissues during fetal development. The defect may affect the thymus  gland and impair production of T lymphocytes.

Ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T): A-T is a PI disease that affects a number of organs.

Pharmaceutical Drug  Issues:

A) Drugs that cause side effects that can exacerbate mortality…

B) Drugs that either are known to cause or to increase risk of induced Pulmonary Disease:

C) Types of lung problems or diseases that may be caused by medicines include, but are not limited to:

          Drug-induced interstitial lung disease

Symptoms of Drug-induced interstitial lung disease: dry cough and shortness of breath due to interstitial lung disease, an imaging study may be ordered. A “CT” scan of the chest would show changes (reticular or ground-glass opacities). Pulmonary function tests may also be ordered by your physician, which can show moderate-to-severe decreases in carbon monoxide diffusion capacity.

Sound familiar?

  • Allergic reactions — asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, or eosinophilic pneumonia
  • Bleeding into the lung air sacs, called alveoli (alveolar hemorrhage)
  • Swelling and inflamed tissue in the main passages that carry air to the lungs (bronchitis)
  • Damage to lung tissue (interstitial fibrosis)
  • Drugs that cause the immune system to mistakenly attack and destroy healthy body tissue, such as drug-induced lupus erythematosus
  • Granulomatous lung disease — a type of inflammation in the lungs
  • Inflammation of the lung air sacs (pneumonitis or infiltration)
  • Lung vasculitis (inflammation of lung blood vessels)
  • Lymph node swelling
  • Swelling and irritation (inflammation) of the chest area between the lungs (mediastinitis)
  • Abnormal buildup of fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Buildup of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity (pleural effusion)

Many medicines and substances are known to cause lung disease in some people. These include:

  • Antibiotics, such as nitrofurantoin and sulfa drugs
  • Heart medicines, such as amiodarone
  • Chemotherapy drugs such as bleomycin, cyclophosphamide, and methotrexate
  • Street drugs

According to Merk…

Drug-induced pulmonary disease is not a single disorder, but rather a common clinical problem in which a patient without previous pulmonary disease develops respiratory symptoms, chest x-ray changes, deterioration of pulmonary function, histologic changes, or several of these findings in association with drug therapy. Over 150 drugs or categories of drugs have been reported to cause pulmonary disease; the mechanism is rarely known, but many drugs are thought to provoke a hypersensitivity response. Some drugs (eg, nitrofurantoin) can cause different injury patterns in different patients.

Depending on the drug, drug-induced syndromes can cause interstitial fibrosis, organizing pneumonia, asthma, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, pleural effusionspulmonary eosinophiliapulmonary hemorrhage, or veno-occlusive disease (see Table: Substances With Toxic Pulmonary Effects).

List of Drugs that cause Lung and Heart Injury

Amiodarone is the most common heart drug that causes pulmonary abnormalities. Used for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, pulmonary toxicity affects as many as 6% of individuals on amiodarone. Among these cases, fatality rates range from 10-20%. Eek. A safer, similar medication used for atrial fib is Multaq (dronedarone) which is more expensive than amiodarone but may be a better first choice given the lower risk of lung injury.

Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) is a commonly prescribed antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin has been linked to both acute and chronic lung injury, believed to be a hypersensitivity reaction from the drug.

Methotrexate (Rheumatrex) is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis as well as other serious skin conditions and carries a known risk of acute interstitial pneumonia.

Biologic agents. Cetuximab (Erbitux), bevacizumab (Avastin), trastuzumab (Herceptin) and alemtuzumab (Lemtrada) are just a few of many in this newer class of medications that have been reported to cause drug induced interstitial lung disease. Again, these are medications used for serious illnesses like cancer and accepting the rare risk of interstitial lung disease may be “worth” it as you will be closely monitored.

Seizure medications. Phenytoin (Dilantin) and carbamazepine (Tegretol)—which is also used to treat pain from trigeminal neuralgia or shingles—are both known to cause drug-induced acute interstitial pneumonitis.

Aspirin and other NSAIDS (ibuprofennaproxen) may cause acute pulmonary hypersensitivity reactions which may occur within the first week of treatment—or as late as three years after first exposure.

Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Bactrim) is a sulfonamide-containing antibiotic used for bacterial infections. It is a rare cause of drug-induced interstitial lung disease.

Hydralazine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure, and cases of nonspecific interstitial pneumonias have been reported.

Cholesterol medications aka “Statins.” This is tricky because while drug-induced interstitial lung disease has been reported with most statins including pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and atorvastatin (Lipitor), they have also been shown in studies to be associated with lower mortality in people with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis.

Drugs that can Lower or act as Immuno-suppressant’s

Diabetes Drugs:

Reported May 29, 2020, 4 p.m. Those with NDMA (N-Nitrosodimethylamine/ dimethylnitrosamine) formula: (CH₃)₂NNO were recalled and or banned worldwide. The Drugs listed are Metformin, ZANTAC (ranitidine) and other AND GENERIC ZANTAC OTC RANITIDINE DRUGS. All of the following can exacerbate, mask or contribute to Corona symptoms, course and severity, add to complications and complicate treatment of Corona. However many Doctors are still prescribing! (https://www.worldhealth.net/news/fda-recalls-extended-release-metformin-due-impurities/)

Exposure to NDMA can cause cancer. Injuries from NDMA exposure include but are not limited to:

  • ustekinumab (Stelara)
  • vedolizumab (Entyvio)

Monoclonal antibodies

  • basiliximab (Simulect)
  • daclizumab (Zinbryta)

PLEASE NOTE: The above is NOT comprehensive. A list of possible drugs causing and or exacerbating would easily run into the thousands of possible suspects. I personally interviewed a past VP Pharmacology of CVS Pharmacy, who told me emphatically it is scientifically and procedurally impossible to calculate the side effects, adverse reactions and co-morbidity of three or more drug simultaneously.

Considering that the average person in the US (48.4%) takes at least One drug per month more than 36.6% of person in the US take between 3 and 5 prescription chemical drugs per month (CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/drug-use-therapeutic.htm) it doesn’t take a science degree to see that 100% of all of these are likely to have one or more adverse effects and 36.6 % will likely have severe and complicated, un predictable list of adverse effects just from the drugs alone.

A) Profiles for prescription drugs… https://hpi.georgetown.edu/rxdrugs/#

Let’s not forget the OTC Meds, NSAIDS (Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs) etc. like the recently banned “Zantac” which also have a huge list of adverse effects including death.

Add GMO’s and Artificial sweeteners no to this growing list of factors which can cause or exacerbate co-morbity with … well… anything! Including with Covid.

List of side effects, adverse effects of Artificial Sweeteners:

Studies have suggested an association between the use of non-nutritive sweeteners and health outcomes (such as body weight, diabetes, cancer, and oral health)… See earlier in this article references for these specific issues relating to co-morbidity!

According to Dr. Osborne: “Current research is limited on the beneficial effects and the long-term health risks associated with the ingestion of artificial sweeteners. However, cyclamate (an early artificial sweetener), was banned by the FDA in 1970 due to carcinogenic risks in experimental animals. With this ban, the artificial sweetener market took a hit. Consumers were left scared knowing there could be a cancer risk associated with ingestion of artificial sweeteners. Shortly after, manufacturers replaced one toxic artificial sweetener with new equally toxic sweetener. Many consumers report headaches, dizziness, rashes, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and digestive problems after ingesting artificial sweeteners. These side effects could build up over time and cause serious long term diseases with regular consumption of these processed sugars.

Currently, the great debate is between the FDA and scientists. In a study determining the effects of saccharin, sucralose and aspartame consumption in both mice and humans, the ingestion of artificial sweeteners altered microbial metabolic pathways6. Studies indicated glucose intolerance was elevated due to changes in gut microbiota. Gut health has to be optimal in order to maintain a healthy immune system and normal metabolic functions in our body.  Such metabolic functions include maintaining normal blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels. More studies need to be conducted, but scientists believe that there is also a relationship between sweeteners and certain cancers, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, autism, and systemic lupus.

In numerous studies observing weight loss with the ingestion of artificial sweeteners, there is not enough proof that consumption is beneficial in weight management2. Studies are able to show short-term weight loss, but lack any long term weight loss results. However, consumers are still consuming artificial sweeteners in order to reduce their caloric intake with the intent of weight loss based on physician’s recommendations.

Artificial Sweeteners can also develop into an addiction. These processed sugars are 200-13,000 times sweeter than regular sugar5. Over time, the consumption of these artificial sweeteners can alter taste buds and result in a constant craving for foods that are overly sweet. More nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables become less palatable, so less nutritious sugar-free substitutes and carbohydrates are consumed instead. Consequently, risks for nutrient deficiencies and weight gain increase.”

Natural Solutions for Infections for Thai Yoga and Ayurveda Practitioners

Infections and Infectious disease from simple topical to chronic catastrophic are always a concern. As a SomaVeda® Thai Yoga, Ayurveda and or other Natural Medicine provider you need to have concrete and reliable strategies to deal effectively with infection. This is no joke. Many medical office visits begin and end with a minor infection not adequately treated that escalates. Once inside that medical facility, emergency room etc. you are now exposed to potentially even more severe types of Hospital born infection such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Legionella (Legionella pneumophila) etc. If you could handle these infections at home or for your patients and clients you would certainly save them time and money, but potentially save them from risk of death from other unnecessary contagious exposure.

Drugs don’t work: Psychiatric meds for depression and other mental disorders treat symptoms, can not cure

Drugs don’t work: Psychiatric meds for depression and other mental disorders treat symptoms, can not cure

Drugs don't work: Psychiatric meds for depression and other mental disorders treat symptoms, can not cure

By Anthony B. James

Dean and Medical Director of the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine (SCNM)

Brooksville, Florida

I ask this question in every class. Have you or anyone you know been under medical care for depression and were you or the person you know ever prescribed chemical, drugs or pharmaceuticals? Every hand in the class goes up! I then ask if anyone in the class themselves or those family members or co-workers have ever been cured of their depression by using antidepressants or drug based therapies? If so, raise your hands. No hands in the last five years, not one hand has gone up when I asked the “If they knew of anyone cured” question.

I then go on to explain that not only is this a true observation that they and their friends are not being cured, but that the whole concept that depression and or mental illness could be cured with a drug based therapy is not what they have been led to believe. That in fact it is false and everyone in the mental health industry knows it.

It is possible that antidepressants might be able to address some of the symptoms of depression but they are not designed to cure depression and there in lies the root of the lie.

In the Waking Times, author Tracy Kolenchuk looks at the logic of a depression diagnosis. What happens when someone is cured of depression? Let’s say their depression was actually caused by a nutritional deficiency. When the deficiency is corrected, their depression goes away – but did they ever really have depression in the first place, or did they just have malnutrition? She argues that the depression was a symptom of malnutrition in such a case rather than a mental health condition or disease.

An example we use in this class on psychiatry and mental health we use the example of our preference for energy psychology (BET/ EFT/ Tapping) which declares the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the bodies energy system. If your diagnosed “depressed” and by tapping an algorythm of acupuncture or energy points while reciting a declarative statement and afterwards your no longer depressed and or your depression goes away then were you actually depressed clinically? We would say your symptoms of depression were in fact not depression at all but were interpreted as such… they were actually symptoms of energy disruption in the meridian or energy body.

Author Tracy mentions the “bible ” of mental health currently the DSM-5, formerly the DSM-4 etc. She says “The DSM-5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, is the official medical bureaucracy book of mental disorders. You might be surprised to learn that there are no cures for any mental disorder listed in the DMS-5. Not one. The DSM-5 does not recommend treatments, much less cures. The only reference to the word cure that I can find is “eventual cures for these conditions“. Cured is not defined for any mental disorder. At this time, by omission, according to the DSM-5, there are no cures.  Maybe, someday, eventually, but today? Not.”

The FDA rules (Human Drugs) states clearly that any cure can only be the result from the prescription of a chemical pharmaceutical or prescription drug. This is why, almost exclusively to a patient… everyone diagnosed with depression and or other mental illness is prescribed a chemical pharmaceutical, antidepressents, sleeping pills, stimulants etc. Most of these drugs have severe side-effects, many of them such as drug induced neurologic disorders such as “tardive dyskinosis” are debilitating and permanent!

My copy of the DSM-4 and or #5 reads the same as hers and for every mental health professional, doctor nurse, psychiatrist, psychologist etc. It explicitly makes no claims of any kind, anywhere to offers any cure for any psychiatric diagnosis!

Of course for me this presents a strong questions. When we have a client who has been diagnosed with depression and find them to be malnurished and give them good , safe clean and appropriate food and their depression goes away… were they actually, medically and legally diagnosed with depression? So we would say the symptoms called or described as depression were actually somatic, or psycho-emotional symptoms of Malnutrition.

Sometimes when we assess a patient or client who has been medically diagnosed with depression and is being medicated we find they have a history of exposure to toxins and or poisons including past prescriptive chemical drugs. When the toxins, poisons and drugs were reduced, eliminated or removed and the symptoms , all of the symptoms of depression went away, were they actually depressed or were they exhibiting symptoms of poisoning? No! The client was NOT depressed at all they were poisoned!

I mention this in class and Author Tracy Kolenchuk mentions also in her article… Depression might be caused by physical and or mental abuse. No amount of a chemical, pharmaceutical, anti-depressant etc. will stop physical and or emotional abuse in a home, work or social environment! If we address the parameters of the abusive situation, remove the abuser or remove the abused from that environment and address the issues directly and the depression goes away… was it actually a mental illness at all or was the depressive symptoms evidence of abuse?

We are not suggesting we can cure depression with Tapping, nutrition, supplements, detoxification and or abuse remediation strategies , policing etc. Depression is a mental illness and mental illness can NOT be cured according to modern western medicine and psychiatry.

However, we can cure that which in almost every case could lead someone to exhibit the symptoms which might be misinterpreted as depression.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Kolenchuk when she states in her article “Every illness can be cured.  An illness is cured when the cause has been addressed when, healing has completed, and when no more medicines are required.”

Of course, sometimes, it’s more complicated. Sometimes, a case of depression is simple, elementary. But sometimes, a single case of depression has several causes. When a case of depression has many causes, it consists of many elements of illness. Each element must be cured by addressing the elementary cause.

Curing depression, sometimes, can be trivial. So trivial – that it is cured before it is diagnosed as depression. Sometimes, depression is cured – even after it has been diagnosed, but the medical bureaucracies are forced to judge it to be “in remission” or maybe it wasn’t really a depression “disease”.

Depression caused by malnutrition can lead to toxic relationships, to consuming toxic chemicals or drugs. Depression, simple depression, can become a downward spiral of illness. When a case of depression has a long and complex history – the cure can also be long and complex. But depression can be cured.”

At the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine: Our traditions of Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Oriental Medicine, Traditional Naturopathy (Nature Cure) and of course Native American Indigenous Medicine have always offered concrete solutions and remedies for what is often misdiagnosed as mental illness and depression.

So, in consideration of the above ideas what are some workable, practical, functional strategies to bring relief from depressive symptoms?

1) SomaVeda Integrated Traditional Therapies® Thai Yoga and Ayurveda offer a comprehensive treatment pathway that covers in one way or another all of the solutions to bring relief to and or from depression and or the symptoms of depression. The various symptoms of depression manifest in the body, the mind and the spiritual areas of life. The indigenous, traditional approach is holistic and covers all these areas in concrete ways. We also offer a national directory of Certified Practitioners that can assist you personally. Go to: SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Practitioner Directory.

2) Sustainable Eating, healthy diet and nutrition which is not contaminated, toxic, GMO and which is appropriate for individual and bodytype. Recommended are strategies which emphasize “Dense Nutrition” appropriate for your bodytype.

3) Detox: Reduce and or eliminate toxins both internal and external i.e. detoxification regimen. This includes reduces use of chemical pharmaceutical and or prescriptive drugs used to treat depression which themselves are dangerous and toxic.

4) Reduce Inflammation, edema, interstitial and allergy related. Consider a Complex Decongestion Therapy protocol. See CDT Protocol.

5) Herbal Medicine: Consider using traditional Herbs and teas with historical and validated use in reducing symptoms of depression such as St. Johns Wort. and Valerian Root.

6) Homeopathic Medicine: Consider using Homeopathic Remedies for symptoms of depression. There are quite a few depending on the patient drug profile. This includes the use of “Bach” and similar “Flower Remedies” such as Bach’s Rescue Remedy.

7) Trace Minerals supplements such as in Fulvic/ Humic/ Iodine etc.

8) Elemental Based Therapies: Light, color, sound/ music, nature- Earthing/ Grounding, Mineral-crystal etc.

9) Energy Psychology (SomaVeda® B.E.T./ EFT- TFT etc.)

10) Bio-Magnetic Therapy: (Static Pole Magnetic protocols), PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy)

11) Yoga and Meditation

12) Probiotics: probiotic supplements specifically designed to support positive mood by influencing the guy-brain axis through the micro-biome. The brain-gut axis is a bi-directional communication system, comprised of neural pathways, such as the enteric nervous system (ENS), vagus, sympathetic and spinal nerves, and humoral pathways, which include cytokines, hormones, and neuropeptides as signaling molecules.

13) Native American Medicine: Ceremony and Healing: It has been found that participating in traditional Native American Healing and medicine rituals such as “Inipi” or Sacred Sweat Lodge-Temascal, Caseuse or Chanupa Sacred Pipe or Breath Ceremony etc. can have tremendous curative powers over the symptoms of depression. The Native American Indigenous Church offers treatment options for functional medicine in the NAIC Tribal Wellness Center and Ceremony on a case by case basis.

The inability to cure disease is a deficiency of understanding than a lack or deficiency of remedies.

PBMT may use light and photon emitting technologies such as Chakra BIOMAT, multi-led diode devices, cold lasers, and clinical MF-TDP heat lamps.

We understand and are dedicated to the principle that light provides power for all life on Earth. We believe the quality, delivery, and control of light are essential to the wellness of the human race and our advancement into the future. 8) PEMF/ Bio-Magnetic Therapy: PEMF devices use electrical energy to direct magnetic pulses through injured tissue safely. Each magnetic pulse induces an electrical signal that stimulates cellular repair. The US FDA accepted using PEMF devices ( MagnaWave SOL, Chakra Bio-Mat/ SOTA Pulser-Model6: Magnetic Pulser HF) to heal non-union bone fractures in 1979, urinary incontinence and muscle stimulation in 1998, and depression and anxiety in 2006. PEMF devices are used to increase energy levels in all body cells. PEMF devices can offer an increased immune response. PEMF devices stimulate white blood cells. This helps them move actively to catch bacteria and other pathogens. The desired effect can depend on the power and intensity of the magnetic wave produced by the PEMF device. Our High-Frequency PEMF therapy uses natural magnetic energies to bring wellness and pain relief, among other benefits. We use both single and multiple emitter devices.

NEW SERVICE! (Beginning in July 2024) We now offer The PULSE PEMF SYSTEM (Suitable for Humans or Animals, Horses and pets),  CHAKRA BIOMAT, and MagnaWave SOL-PEMF High-Frequency sessions and programs as a stand-alone service. CLICK HERE for more information.

11) Hyperthermia (Induced Fever Therapy): Hyperthermia means the body temperature is higher than usual. Hyperthermia can also refer to fever therapy in which heat is used in carefully controlled medical procedures.

Hyperthermia (Therapeutic Sweating) Has been used for centuries by Native Americans in traditional healing ceremonies, including cancer treatment. Hyperthermia or fever therapy is usually included in our Pancha Karma Detox protocol. However, it may be an adjunct in almost any other type of healing emphasis or SomaVeda® Therapeutic Day Protocol. It is a type of treatment in which cancer cells and pathogens like viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mold are exposed to elevated temperatures. This has several effects, including:

  • Heat shock proteins on pathogens and cancer cells, and your bone marrow produces more cancer-fighting white blood cells.
  • Intense deep tissue detoxification from all toxins
  • Oxygenation of the whole body
  • Immune boosting beyond any other treatment by removing several causes
  • Wet (Steam Canopy) or Dry (Chakra BIOMAT)
  • Far-Infrared Lamp

In short, it’s the most potent therapy you can do to deal with almost any degenerative disease. In combination with the complete Somaveda® Therapeutic Day Protocol plus Sacred Nutrition strategies, you have a therapy bundle that is second to none.

It is good that our traditions have deep and ancient roots with elders and teachers who have lived the life of healers, traditional doctors and therapist for centuries, literally. They are our role models. We do not have to reinvent the wheel of success in what we do by ourselves. Only our current life situations and perhaps cultural considerations are unique. But what we are doing in life is not new or unique. We can learn from our elders and these lessons and qualities I am recommending you cultivate don’t originate with me personally but they are passed down to us by previous generations of healers who chose to practice true medicine as a way of life for their whole life!

Repetitive Stress Injury, The SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Approach to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Part 2 of 2.

INNER: Any particular disorder or trauma whether acute or chronic like CTS will manifest differently in different persons. When looking for the INNER significance we first consider the balance and activity of the Chakras. We gain insight into the specific chakras involved by observing the physical correlations, i.e., corresponding body part, orifice, closest Sen, or line, and/or meridian. The chakras most closely associated with the hands and wrist are fourth Chakra, ANAHATA , commonly called the Heart Chakra. The hands are the vehicle for expressing and communicating from and of the heart. We say that the skin of the hands and arms is the organ most closely associated with the heart. The bones and sinew of the hands are ruled or controlled by the first Chakra or root Chakra. The quality of the energy here is one of security and survival. That these two such disparate qualities of expression of energy should overlap here may explain many things. For example, the ability of the hands to express the most tender and compassionate intent are the very same hands that can create willful injury and harm. The highest use of the hands is found in the expression of the positively aspected fourth Chakra. This is demonstrated in the quintessence of the loving touch where the hands are expressing the inner light and warmth of the heart according to its clear, compassionate and loving nature. When the hands are used purely as tools for procuring security and survival needs we run into difficulty. Because of their structural support in first Chakra, hands can be used in this fashion for short periods of time. However, long term use in this manner results in abuse from overuse.

Repetitive Stress Injury, The SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Approach to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

 Part 1 of 2. by Anthony B James DNM(C), ND, MD(AM), DOM(C), DPHC(h.c.), PhD, RAAP, SMOKH

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a challenge that is cropping up more and more frequently. Conventional remedial treatments are fine and can be examples of compassion in action, but Western style physical therapeutic and orthopedic approaches are limited in just how much compassionate relief they are able to deliver. This is because the conventional Western therapeutic model for treatment is not holistically based. A more compassionate approach is a protocol which leads to fundamental understanding and renders the application of remedial therapies unnecessary! This approach is entirely holistic (Naturopathic and Religious Therapeutic).

What is CTS? The common conventional medical understanding of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS as quoted from  “Tabers Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary” defines CTS as “soreness, tenderness, and weakness of the muscles of the thumb caused by pressure on the Median Nerve at the point at which it goes through the carpal tunnel of the wrist.”

The origin of the Median Nerve or Nerve Medianus are the internal and external cords of the brachial plexus. It is a motor and a sensory nerve. Its function is to enervate the pronators and flexors of the forearm, two external lumbricales, thenar muscles of the thumb, skin of the palm and the first four fingers.

Considered a syndrome, the generally accepted cause is fatigue injury and concomitant secondary trauma derived from over-use. This would also generally classify CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) as an RSS or Repetitive Stress Syndrome type of injury. In most of the cases that I have seen, the cause was simple and easy to determine and verify. Clients were performing menial, repetitive tasks which primarily focused workload, pressure and or impact on the thumb, fingers and wrist. They were pushing with the thumb, pressing or tapping with the fingers, grasping, squeezing and twisting with the hand, or combinations of the above. In some cases they were doing all of the above. The kinds of situations which can produce this kind of working stress are quite varied and diverse; typing or working on computers including extensive mouse work or pick and place tasking on a manufacturing line. Virtually any repetitive work involving the fingers and hands done over a period of time can lead to this type of break down.

The more narrow the parameters of the particular stress the more likely the stress is to lead to the development of the syndrome. It has been noted for instance that the simple act of typing on a keyboard transfers thousands of individual impacts which send minute shock waves to the wrist and forearm. It is the combination of these little shock waves and the narrow range of motion one must maintain in order to type efficiently that eventually leads to breakdown and deterioration.

CTS is turning up more frequently among Western style therapists and even oriental style therapists who use a few narrowly defined techniques for every client, over and over again. Especially susceptible are those who squeeze and twist the fingers and wrist while exerting pressure on or with the thumbs. This does not necessarily mean that the techniques themselves are bad, although some are. Rather, repetitively performing these narrowly focused techniques with an ever-diminishing range of motion is bad. In a sense, this is inevitable for these therapists because as they gain experience in these methods, they will tend to become more efficient in the application of the few techniques they are using and the one or two body parts that they are using.

I have personally interviewed massage therapists whose total pharmacopoeia of therapeutic “hand” tools was based on no more than five different positions of the hand, and was limited to only using the hands to apply pressure! There are even schools that teach that the only part of a therapist’s body which may touch the client is their hands and that it is somehow improper or immoral to use another part of the body! As a SomaVeda® Thai Yoga stylist you may laugh, but this is no laughing matter. Therapists trained in this simple way of using just a few techniques for everything are bound to breakdown sooner or later as the cumulative stress of releasing tens of thousands of individual points and squeezing tons of flesh and muscle with just the hands and fingers begins to take its toll. Working conditions further exacerbate the problem, such as the Western practice of exclusively working on or around a massage table.

Although there are operations and applications that seem to be well suited to a massage table, by and large the table by design engenders poor body mechanics. The table simply holds the body of the therapist out and away from the area they are working on. Some schools and state licensing boards even prevent the therapist from leaning on the table for support! Why is this? The fundamental idea upon which proper body mechanics is based on is that the closer your center of gravity is to the point or area you are applying pressure to, the less muscular effort it takes and the more efficient the application of pressure becomes.

A concrete example that we use in class is in standing. When you are simply standing you are maximizing the application of pressure under your feet with little or no stress to the rest of your body. Depending on how much you weigh, you could be exerting one or more than one hundred pounds of pressure on the surface of your feet to the surface under your feet with zero effort, no more effort than if you were just standing. As the point or surface you wish to press on moves away from your center of gravity you become less efficient and strain more. This straining is your attempt to create a compensation for being off center through muscular contraction. It is possible to do this but it costs dearly. It costs in the actual amount of energy that you expend as you work and it costs in the wear and tear, stress and deterioration of your own body/mind/spirit. We work off center because we are off center. Strain and the resultant suffering from strain seem like normal and acceptable consequences of making our way in life. However, this is not true! When we are established in our center and work from our center, we are balanced in everything that we do. When we work from a place of balance there is less effort required, with few or no detrimental consequences from this kind of effort. In fact, this kind of effort actually increases your capacity to do more.

Using the massage table is also part of the SomaVeda® Thai Yoga repertoire!  Doing Thai Yoga and Thai Massage has always been a very important part of traditional Thai Medical Massage applications, especially in Thai Hospitals. There are approximately one hundred seventy Thai VA or veteran’s hospitals run by the Royal Ministry of Health. All of them have a wing or floor exclusively devoted to Thai Traditional Medicine and all of them use tables and raised platforms to do their work. The difference between the Thai Table applications and methods is the variety of techniques and the dramatic differences in body mechanics used in Thai Style Yoga therapy. So, please do not misunderstand when I speak of the harmful effects caused by working on a massage table because I am referring only to Western types of massage or massage therapy techniques on the table.

This is another reason why the integrated holistic approach of the SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Massage way is so brilliant. When we say, “we use the whole person to treat the whole person,” we are also saying that we use the whole body as the instrument with which we apply pressure and energy to the body of our client! As the workload is more evenly distributed with dozens of different tools and as we switch from tool to tool, such as from hand pressure to foot pressure, there is little opportunity for a repetitive stress disability to occur. The bottom line is that therapists trained in limited and conventional Western protocols do not know what the prognosis is for their practice longevity. On the other hand, the specific TAO or WAY of working we share as SomaVeda® Thai Style Yoga therapists has already been refined and perfected over many, many years.

CTS and RSS syndromes may become the leading cause of disability among working massage, massage therapists, physical therapists, body work therapists etc.  in the not so distant future. Already many therapists and professional body workers that I meet in trainings and workshops suffer from the precursors of wrist, hand and arm pain in one or both hands. Not all persons stressed in the same manner will develop CTS, but there are mediating factors which could determine predisposition such as age, heredity, physical conditioning including functional range of motion, diet/nutrition (i.e. any specific deficiency), pre-existing trauma, injury, or scarring resulting from injury.

Additional mediating factors in susceptibility to not only CTS but any degradation of health, function and longevity are nutritional, emotional, mental and energetic. Energetically we must also consider the balance of and between the major Chakras and the representation of their homeodynamic status or balance in the physical, psychological and emotional states. For example, if one performs the very same menial task in a “good place” versus in an “angry place,” one is more likely to hurt them selves in the latter.

The SomaVeda® treatment protocol is basically always the same. The treatment itself may be broken down into three distinct phases or categories. INNER, OUTER, & SECRET.

The Inner deals with the innate energetic, pranic, and Chakra correlations and considerations found in the matrix body. For those of you not familiar with the terminology, the matrix body is your total energetic body including all of the chakras, lom (Wind Gates), all of the Sen or Prana Nadis, meridians, elements, extraordinary vessels and acupuncture points which make up the luminous body. Treatment of the Inner may or may not be performed hands on or with Asanas. It may also utilize Puja, prayer, affirmation and focused intention with visualization or meditation techniques and guided breathing or Prana Yama. The focus of the Inner is to create or stimulate a movement toward balance between the various energetic parts of us. This state is evidenced by the free and unrestricted flow of energy or prana. The Inner is also related to the healing mind and innate wisdom of balance which operates in every cell and which is the true overseer of healing processes in the body/mind/spirit. When we place our hand on the client and ask permission and direction to treat, this is the “who” or “what” we are communicating with.

Because the inner deals with the energy body and disruptions within the energy system, then we also consider here the role of pathological emotional and mental states. In SomaVeda® we teach that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. Examples of negative emotions are fears, phobias, compulsions, neurosis, anxieties and the like which are unreasonable and or irrational.

The Outer addresses the symptomatic and observable physiologic/pathological considerations in the tangible physical body (TPB). This usually involves hands on application of pressure to the body by holding specific points and applying therapeutic Asanas or postures. The focus of the Outer is the same as in the Inner except that we are looking for homeodynamic stasis or a balanced and harmonious state between the physical being and all of its parts. This may look like a reduction in obvious trauma and sensitivity as well as an increase in all circulation, a reduction in number and intensity of active and latent trigger points with a corresponding increase in mobility and range of motion.

Results may also include reduced edema and swelling, lower residuals of metabolic waste and by products of the trauma along with a reduction in atrophy, scar tissue and further reduction in the pathological production of scar tissue and less pain. In short, a movement toward optimum health and return to function.

The Secret approaches the spiritual or metaphysical aspects of this challenge to one’s harmony and equilibrium in the context of one’s whole life and person.

Please note: The mentioned distinctions of energetic and physical self are arbitrary to help in your understanding. In reality, all such distinctions are illusion and can be limiting. In actual treatment the more advanced practitioner addresses the Inner, Outer and Secret simultaneously without preference for one over the other.

In Part 2 of this article I will break down treatment approaches and strategies for each of the Inner, Outer and Secret elements of the disorder.
