Somaveda® Table Thai Yoga: Just because we are indigenous and traditional does not mean we are not innovative! SomaVeda® applications and procedures for the massage table are found in all levels of professional certificate and Ayurveda programs.

Featuring innovative work on the translation and adaptation of traditional SomaVeda® position treatment methods for the ‘ Modern Massage Table. This beautiful Thai Yoga Table Massage was first demonstrated by Dr. Anthony James nationally in the US in 1991 at the AOBTA (American Oriental Bodywork Therapy Association) National conference in New Orleans.

Unlike using the Thai Yoga Massage Mats or futon style mat, this work is appropriate for the work place, corporate and/ or industrial settings as well as conventional yoga therapy, Ayurveda treatment and Massage Therapy venues.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Table Massage incorporates virtually every conceivable Seated Thai Yoga Massage and Yoga Therapy technique, Asana and Vinyasana. Learn how to do all the primary Thai Massage flows, using the Massage Therapy table for advantage and leverage. Thai Yoga Table reduces and or eliminates repetitive stress resulting from common massage practice.

This is very similar work to that practiced in virtually all of the 160 plus Veterans Hospitals in Thailand. We also incorporate methods given to us by Grand Master Anantasuk of the Anantasuk Thai Massage school famous for their programs at the Wiangklaikangwan Industrial college under patronage of the Thai King and Royal family. Dr. Anthony B. James is a recognized Aachan in the Anantasuk school and Wat Po Association of Thai Traditional Medical Schools. Dr. James is also a Thai UTTS (Union of Thai Traditional Medicine Society) Lifetime Licensed Traditional Thai Doctor!

Karma Yoga/ Community Service/ Class Requirements:

Our educational programs are both traditional and apprentice based. This means that we require effort to support the class, facilities, and ground maintenance as a vital part of every class.

“Chop wood, carry water” is not just a metaphor! At the SCNM: TYC, we require that everyone participate in helping to maintain the school. Community service and karma yoga are requirements for the completion of all programs. Karma yoga is a requirement of every traditional yoga school! It must be completed like any other class assignment and may not be missed or excused without prior permission of the instructor. Karma yoga is not the work you want but the work and sweat equity necessary to build and make a living community efficient. Our effort is a real investment and acknowledgment of the privilege of learning and training in anything of real value. The money your pay for classes/housing etc., is for “overhead,” which is different from the effort of karma yoga. Your sweat and your effort are the coin for spirit and energy-based exchange. Your uncomfortable-ness is a form of voluntary suffering that generates particular types of energy and emotional states which support real work. Karma yoga is about balancing the machine and all of our centers…not just the parts of us who want truth served on a silver platter!

Please note: The essential requirement is a minimum of 1 hour of Karma yoga/ service per each full class day, or as indicated in the curriculum for that particular program. There are no exceptions unless arranged in writing previous to participation. The penalty for a missed or unexcused incomplete is 4 CEU credit hours per missed hour (4/1). Each class has a minimum amount of hours necessary for graduation. If the student falls below this minimum, the hours must be completed before any certificate will be given. Participating in Karma yoga makes it possible to run, build and maintain a school while keeping the cost of programs and housing reasonable and affordable. Karma yoga is also how we can provide you with free or partial scholarships!

Please note: All who receive seminary tuition scholarship reductions or discounts must participate in Karma Yoga as part of daily class and life at TYC. If you do not wish to join us in this critical daily practice, you agree to pay 100% of the total tuition before receiving any certification from TYC. The participant further agrees that no certificates, certifications, or diplomas will be issued until all requirements, including coursework, homework, financial, and Karma yoga work, are completed. Understanding and acceptance of this policy is a precondition to being allowed to participate in any of our programs.

The only exceptions to the above will be proper medical conditions. Alternative requirements will be assigned.

Regarding nudity, partial nudity, and sex at TYC:

Our Yoga, Ayurveda, and Natural Medicine curriculum is a science of balancing the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. We foster an appreciation of the entire body and practice body awareness and acceptance in a wholesome and blessed way. All programs are for students 18 and over and are suitable for healthy adults. Some activities and coursework like Ayurveda Panchakarma use oils, water, and herbs that are applied directly to the skin and involve various levels of dress and undress. Nudity is NOT required in any NAIC: SCNM program, but if you are uncomfortable with the human body/ nudity, you may not be comfortable with some crucial aspects of our program and may want to reconsider your enrollment.
Additionally, during clinical, medical, and counseling courses, human sexuality, male and female anatomy, intimacy, sexual function, and dysfunction may be discussed and covered in great detail regarding yoga practice, mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical health, and well-being. Our curriculum also includes coursework on breath, Chakras, Prana, Kundalini, and energy development ideas, and techniques. We strive to foster an atmosphere of open and safe exploration of all issues relating to intimacy, personal well-being, and sexual identity because all these things affect our mental, emotional, and physical health.

By registering or participating in any of our programs, you certify that you are over 18 and agree to receive education and information on potentially sensitive issues, including human sexuality. The student further agrees to hold blameless all staff at NAIC/ SCNM: TYC from all injuries, either real or imagined resulting from participation in these programs and related activities, whether formally part of the program or not.

Please note! Better than good behavior is expected at all times. Any violent, abusive, or improper conduct may result in immediate dismissal without recourse or refund. This is a zero-tolerance issue, and no warnings will be given. Acceptance of the non-violent, no-abuse behavior policy is a precondition to training at the SCNM: Thai Yoga Center. Acceptance of the Student Agreement and Consent form, all current RPGs, and NAIC APM Membership is a precondition to training in our programs.

N.C.B.T.M.B. Approved Provider for Massage Therapy Continuing Education

WHAT IS THAI MASSAGEWat Po, Bangkok Thailand

We offer Traditional Thai Massage/ Thai yoga certifications and Thai Yoga and Thai massage continuing education (C.E.U.s)classes /credits, often blended and called Thai yoga massage in Florida and other states. This combination of skills has become the SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Practitioner Certification program at the Thai Yoga Center in Brooksville, Florida. Our education is geared toward teaching students the proper skills for a long career in healing therapies as well as helping seasoned practitioners by offering both traditional and bio-mechanically correct ways to
do their work.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga is sophisticated, elegant, and at the same time, intensive practice,
however, the rewards are dramatic and enormous.

Most healing practitioners and massage professionals find this way of working based on a well-developed and ancient practice to be as healthy for themselves as their clients.

Students themselves find positive and beneficial changes happening to their bodies during and after course completion!

It is not unusual for students enrolled in SomaVeda® style traditional Thai Yoga massage courses to experience an increased range of motion, breakthroughs in dealing with emotional issues, and weight loss!

The training is intense and focused on our primary outcomes, which are to prepare you to be able to start or add a productive, profitable practice the next day after you graduate! SomaVeda® Thai Yoga programs are professional and competency-based. We take the time necessary to give you, the practitioner, the concrete foundations to be successful and safe. Unlike other programs which seem to follow the “Tourist” or non-professional model…

If you are already a healthcare professional or Massage Therapist, for example… you will be amazed at the refinements and grace this work will bring to your practice. Additionally, it will likely reduce any occupational or repetitive stress type of occupational disorders you may already be experiencing. One of the several textbooks introduced in the SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Practitioner Certification program, “Ayurveda of Thailand,” was voted the best Ayurveda textbook of 2017 and received the Veda Vasya Award! SomaVeda® system is the modern iteration of several well-established original, genuine named Thai Medical Institutions, and Dr. Anthony B. James directs our school. Dr. James holds over five doctorates and is an award-winning Ajahn, Master Thai Medicine Teacher, and Professor of Thai Traditional Medicine and Yoga Therapy.

Traditional Thai Yoga, Massage, and healing arts are classified as “Religious Therapeutics,” a form of Chirothesia Healing and indigenous conventional medicine.

Proper Clothing?

Dress ready to move! Many students opt to wear clothes suitable for either a Yoga class or similar Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing seems best.

What else do I need to bring?

Aside from yourself, of course, bring a notebook and pen. We provide you with all the necessary workbooks, textbooks, and materials in class.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Certification programs are unique and offer more professional education and growth opportunities than any other similar program. The first thing to keep in mind is that we were first! Our program has taught and certified Thai Yoga and Traditional Thai Massage professionals full-time since 1984. Most Thai Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, and or Thai Massage programs currently in the U.S. were started and or operated by graduates of our original programs! As stated above, we offer more than the short TOURIST style (backrubs at the beach) type of training and certification pathway. We offer five levels of certification and five different College degrees, from Associate to Doctorate and Ph.D., based on Thai Yoga Massage as a core modality. No one else offers this.

Adjunct Staff: I have graduated from the SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Teacher Certification program and have been taught personally by Aachan, Dr. Anthony B. James. Every adjunct teacher on staff has between one and fifteen years of in-class Thai Yoga teaching experience. We specialize in small classes and high-teacher ratios.

How Thai Massage works

We use both traditional and modern teaching methods.

The most strict traditional Asana (Therapeutic Postures) and Vinyasa (Therapeutic Sequences) are taught. We have a happy balance of didactic, lecture, demonstration, and practice to bring you to the award-winning competencies and skill levels our graduates are known for.

Dr. Anthony B. James was the first western Thai Yoga Massage teacher to incorporate the concept of FLOW as a practice methodology into his certification programs in Thailand and the U.S. in the 80s. Of course, many try to copy our “flow” concept, but after 39 years of practice and refinement, we know how to do it correctly!

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapy is more than technique!

Every SomaVeda® certification program offers extensive education in Nutrition, BET/ EFT Tapping for Emotional Issues, and Specific treatment protocols for significant diseases such as Cancer, Heart Disease, and Diabetes, among others. We have treatment protocols available for over 100 top health and medical conditions.

Medically Supervised and Directed Thai Yoga Course Instruction.

When we say CLINICAL, we mean clinical! Ajahn, Dr. Anthony B. James personally and medically supervised all courses. This is both for your safety and to ensure the bio-mechanics of your practice are exact, safe, and healing for you and your clients.

Unique features of the SomaVeda®  program:

  • Students may study at their own pace and only need to commit on a course-by-course basis as their schedule and finances permit.
  • A small deposit can hold the student’s place in class – if requested, we have several convenient courtesy payment choices.
  • We have one of the most respected Thai massage programs
anywhere. We have been teaching since 1984 and have taught over
20,000 practitioners. Check out our graduates and student testimonials!
  • We currently have over 4,500 hours of Thai massage-specific coursework available. No matter your experience, we have something to offer both baby beginners and experts.
  • Our courses are supported by Dr. Anthony B. James Award-winning DVD Series, providing the student with a detailed study aid
before and after class. Additionally, we offer over 400 educational videos on YouTube. Dr. James is a Union of Thai Traditional Medicine Society (U.T.T.S.) Lifetime Doctor and Professor of Thai Traditional Medicine and Awardee of the U.T.T.S.
