Flu Season is Here! Natural Solutions for Infections for Thai Yoga and Ayurveda Practitioners

LearnThaiYoga On-Line

Natural Solutions for Infections for Thai Yoga and Ayurveda Practitioners

Infections and Infectious disease from simple topical to chronic catastrophic are always a concern. As a SomaVeda® Thai Yoga, Ayurveda and or other Natural Medicine provider you need to have concrete and reliable strategies to deal effectively with infection. This is no joke. Many medical office visits begin and end with a minor infection not adequately treated that escalates. Once inside that medical facility, emergency room etc. you are now exposed to potentially even more severe types of Hospital born infection such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Legionella (Legionella pneumophila) etc. If you could handle these infections at home or for your patients and clients you would certainly save them time and money, but potentially save them from risk of death from other unnecessary contagious exposure.

Flu Season is here!

UPDATED APRIL 27, 2020:

We are heading into the Cold and Flu season. Now is the time to prepare ahead for how this exposure is going to affect you, your clients and your family!

This course now offers a certificate of completion suitable for framing!

Why do we need natural solutions for infections? Real life examples and the rise of antibiotic resistant viral and bacterial infections. This course will present a broad overview of the infectious disease issue from the perspective of a natural health practitioner. We will examine both specific concerns and their solution strategies. These strategies once understood can be implemented both in personal life and in counseling with affected clients in the wellness counseling model.

Learn How to fight and remedy many infections and infectious disease naturally.

This course contains eleven (11) lessons with a short quiz after each lesson. Once all lessons are completed and the quizes passed an NAIC CE hr. Certificate of Completion will be issued and immediately downloadable.

All course work and necessary materials are presented on the LearnThaiYoga.Teachable.Com platform. There are eleven lessons and a test for each lesson content.

Rules Procedures and Guidelines

SomaVeda Integrated Traditional Therapie

Rules, Procedures, and Guidelines

The SCNM: Thai Yoga Center, located at NAIC Sanctuary, is a religious and volunteer organization operated by the Priory of Saving Grace and the Native American Indigenous Church Inc. (NAIC). All work, including the teaching classes and programs and house/dorm-related activities, is done by volunteers and students. The RPGs are to help you to understand what your responsibilities are as a student and guest at the TYC. Personal responsibility:

Attitude and general fitness: You are always responsible for your health, happiness, and welfare. The staff at SCNM: TYC is here to assist you in having the best educational experience possible. We want to encourage all participants to work at the highest level to co-create and facilitate a harmonious environment to practice in. If you are unhappy, take charge, handle it well, or seek counseling or assistance from the staff or other volunteers. We feel that all work is, in essence, work on one’s self. SCNM: TYC is dedicated to helping you learn and progress in virtually every area of life, but we need your participation to be effective in this. Additionally, please see our Code of Ethics for NAIC Thai Practitioners…

No cell phones are allowed in the classroom. Please be courteous when making calls in the main areas! No cell phones will be used in sleeping quarters after the lights are out. the

Long Distance Calls: Students must have a calling card to make long-distance calls from the school. There is a 20-minute time limit on all personal calls from the house phone.

Internet usage is restricted to designated areas only and is prohibited at all times in classrooms, dorms, and other sleeping quarters. Misuse or violation of this policy will terminate access without recourse or refund—no refunds for unused tickets. Please notify the school if you have a personal WIFI connection that you will be using. By allowing other students to use your computer/ phone/ etc., you assume all responsibility for any damages that may result.

Personal Laundry: The school provides it at a modest fee for student laundry access. If this is insufficient for your needs or schedule, a commercial laundry with washing machines and dryers is near the school.

General Classroom: Students are responsible for ensuring the classroom is ready and in order before and after each class. Vacuum each morning before setting up mats or before the morning documentary. Clean-up after class includes neatly folding and storing rugs, sheets, pillows, and other materials. Practice is permissible until 10 pm unless otherwise noted. No littering! SCNM: TYC believes in and enforces nature conservancy, and we support restoring the land to its pristine and natural state. When walking on or off campus, please collect any trash you may encounter on the way! Please park in designated areas only. No cars allowed in camping areas!

Karma Yoga/ Community Service/ Class Requirements:

Our educational programs are both traditional and apprentice based. This means that we require effort to support the class, facilities, and ground maintenance as a vital part of every class.

“Chop wood, carry water” is not just a metaphor! At the SCNM: TYC, we require that everyone participate in helping to maintain the school. Community service and karma yoga are requirements for the completion of all programs. Karma yoga is a requirement of every traditional yoga school! It must be completed like any other class assignment and may not be missed or excused without prior permission of the instructor. Karma yoga is not the work you want but the work and sweat equity necessary to build and make a living community efficient. Our effort is a real investment and acknowledgment of the privilege of learning and training in anything of real value. The money your pay for classes/housing etc., is for “overhead,” which is different from the effort of karma yoga. Your sweat and your effort are the coin for spirit and energy-based exchange. Your uncomfortable-ness is a form of voluntary suffering that generates particular types of energy and emotional states which support real work. Karma yoga is about balancing the machine and all of our centers…not just the parts of us who want truth served on a silver platter!

Please note: The essential requirement is a minimum of 1 hour of Karma yoga/ service per each full class day, or as indicated in the curriculum for that particular program. There are no exceptions unless arranged in writing previous to participation. The penalty for a missed or unexcused incomplete is 4 CEU credit hours per missed hour (4/1). Each class has a minimum amount of hours necessary for graduation. If the student falls below this minimum, the hours must be completed before any certificate will be given. Participating in Karma yoga makes it possible to run, build and maintain a school while keeping the cost of programs and housing reasonable and affordable. Karma yoga is also how we can provide you with free or partial scholarships!

Please note: All who receive seminary tuition scholarship reductions or discounts must participate in Karma Yoga as part of daily class and life at TYC. If you do not wish to join us in this critical daily practice, you agree to pay 100% of the total tuition before receiving any certification from TYC. The participant further agrees that no certificates, certifications, or diplomas will be issued until all requirements, including coursework, homework, financial, and Karma yoga work, are completed. Understanding and acceptance of this policy is a precondition to being allowed to participate in any of our programs.

The only exceptions to the above will be proper medical conditions. Alternative requirements will be assigned.

Regarding nudity, partial nudity, and sex at TYC:

Our Yoga, Ayurveda, and Natural Medicine curriculum is a science of balancing the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. We foster an appreciation of the entire body and practice body awareness and acceptance in a wholesome and blessed way. All programs are for students 18 and over and are suitable for healthy adults. Some activities and coursework like Ayurveda Panchakarma use oils, water, and herbs that are applied directly to the skin and involve various levels of dress and undress. Nudity is NOT required in any NAIC: SCNM program, but if you are uncomfortable with the human body/ nudity, you may not be comfortable with some crucial aspects of our program and may want to reconsider your enrollment.
Additionally, during clinical, medical, and counseling courses, human sexuality, male and female anatomy, intimacy, sexual function, and dysfunction may be discussed and covered in great detail regarding yoga practice, mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical health, and well-being. Our curriculum also includes coursework on breath, Chakras, Prana, Kundalini, and energy development ideas, and techniques. We strive to foster an atmosphere of open and safe exploration of all issues relating to intimacy, personal well-being, and sexual identity because all these things affect our mental, emotional, and physical health.

By registering or participating in any of our programs, you certify that you are over 18 and agree to receive education and information on potentially sensitive issues, including human sexuality. The student further agrees to hold blameless all staff at NAIC/ SCNM: TYC from all injuries, either real or imagined resulting from participation in these programs and related activities, whether formally part of the program or not.

Please note! Better than good behavior is expected at all times. Any violent, abusive, or improper conduct may result in immediate dismissal without recourse or refund. This is a zero-tolerance issue, and no warnings will be given. Acceptance of the non-violent, no-abuse behavior policy is a precondition to training at the SCNM: Thai Yoga Center. Acceptance of the Student Agreement and Consent form, all current RPGs, and NAIC APM Membership is a precondition to training in our programs.

Drugs don’t work: Psychiatric meds for depression and other mental disorders treat symptoms, can not cure

Drugs don't work: Psychiatric meds for depression and other mental disorders treat symptoms, can not cure

I ask this question in every class. Have you or anyone you know been under medical care for depression, and were you or the person you know ever prescribed chemicals, drugs, or pharmaceuticals? Every hand in the class goes up! I then ask if anyone in the class themselves or those family members or co-workers has ever been cured of their depression by using antidepressants or drug-based therapies. If so, raise your hands. No hands in the last five years, not one hand has gone up when I asked the “If they knew of anyone cured” question.

I then go on to explain that not only is this a true observation that they and their friends are not being cured, but that the whole concept that depression and or mental illness could be cured with a drug-based therapy is not what they have been led to believe. That, in fact, is false, and everyone in the mental health industry knows it.

It is possible that antidepressants might be able to address some of the symptoms of depression, but they are not designed to cure depression, and therein lies the root of the lie.

In The Waking Times, author Tracy Kolenchuk looks at the logic of a depression diagnosis. What happens when someone is cured of depression? Let’s say their depression was actually caused by a nutritional deficiency. When the deficiency is corrected, their depression goes away – but did they ever really have depression in the first place, or did they just have malnutrition? She argues that depression was a symptom of malnutrition in such a case rather than a mental health condition or disease.

In this class on psychiatry and mental health, we use the example of our preference for energy psychology (BET/ EFT/ Tapping), which declares the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. If you were diagnosed “depressed” by tapping an algorithm of acupuncture or energy points while reciting a declarative statement, and afterward you are no longer depressed and or your depression goes away, then were you actually depressed clinically? We would say your symptoms of depression were not depression at all but were interpreted as such… they were actually symptoms of energy disruption in the meridian or energy body.

Author Tracy mentions the “bible ” of mental health, currently the DSM-5, formerly the DSM-4, etc. She says, “The DSM-5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, is the official medical bureaucracy book of mental disorders. You might be surprised to learn that there are no cures for any mental disorder listed in the DMS-5. Not one. The DSM-5 does not recommend treatments, much less cures. The only reference to the word cure that I can find is “eventual cures for these conditions“. Cured is not defined for any mental disorder. At this time, by omission, according to the DSM-5, there are no cures.  Maybe, someday, eventually, but today? Not.”

The FDA rules (Human Drugs) state clearly that any cure can only be the result of the prescription of a chemical pharmaceutical or prescription drug. This is why, almost exclusively to a patient… everyone diagnosed with depression and or other mental illness is prescribed a chemical pharmaceutical, antidepressants, sleeping pills, stimulants, etc. Most of these drugs have severe side effects, and many of them, such as drug-induced neurologic disorders such as “tardive dyskinesia,” are debilitating and permanent!

My copy of the DSM-4 and or #5 reads the same as hers and for every mental health professional, doctor nurse, psychiatrist, psychologist etc. It explicitly makes no claims of any kind, anywhere to offers any cure for any psychiatric diagnosis!

Of course, for me, this presents a strong question. When we have a client who has been diagnosed with depression and finds them to be malnourished and give them good, safe, clean, and appropriate food, and their depression goes away… were they actually, medically and legally diagnosed with depression? So, we would say the symptoms called or described as depression were actually somatic or psycho-emotional symptoms of Malnutrition.

Sometimes, when we assess a patient or client who has been medically diagnosed with depression and is being medicated, we find they have a history of exposure to toxins and or poisons, including past prescriptive chemical drugs. When the toxins, poisons, and drugs were reduced, eliminated, or removed and the symptoms, all of the symptoms of depression went away, were they actually depressed or were they exhibiting symptoms of poisoning? No! The client was NOT depressed at all. They were poisoned!

I mentioned this in class, and Author Tracy Kolenchuk mentions it in her article… Depression might be caused by physical and or mental abuse. No amount of a chemical, pharmaceutical, anti-depressant, etc. will stop physical and or emotional abuse in a home, work, or social environment! If we address the parameters of the abusive situation, remove the abuser or remove the abused from that environment and address the issues directly, and the depression goes away… was it actually a mental illness at all, or were the depressive symptoms evidence of abuse?

We are not suggesting we can cure depression with Tapping, nutrition, supplements, detoxification and or abuse remediation strategies, policing, etc. Depression is a mental illness, and mental illness can NOT be cured according to modern Western medicine and psychiatry.

However, we can cure that which, in almost every case, could lead someone to exhibit symptoms that might be misinterpreted as depression.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Kolenchuk when she states in her article “Every illness can be cured.  An illness is cured when the cause has been addressed when, healing has completed, and when no more medicines are required.”

Of course, sometimes, it’s more complicated. Sometimes, a case of depression is elementary. But sometimes, a single case of depression has several causes. When a case of depression has many causes, it consists of many elements of illness. Each element must be cured by addressing the elementary cause.

Curing depression, sometimes, can be trivial. It is so trivial – that it is cured before it is diagnosed as depression. Sometimes, depression is cured – even after it has been diagnosed, but the medical bureaucracies are forced to judge it to be “in remission” or maybe it wasn’t really a depression “disease”.

Depression caused by malnutrition can lead to toxic relationships and the consumption of toxic chemicals or drugs. Depression, simple depression, can become a downward spiral of illness. When a case of depression has a long and complex history – the cure can also be long and complex. But depression can be cured.”

At the American College of Natural Medicine, our traditions of Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Oriental Medicine, Traditional Naturopathy (Nature Cure), and, of course, Native American Indigenous Medicine have always offered concrete solutions and remedies for what is often misdiagnosed as mental illness and depression.

So, considering the above ideas, what are some workable, practical, functional strategies for relieving depressive symptoms?

1) SomaVeda Integrated Traditional Therapies® Thai Yoga and Ayurveda offer a comprehensive treatment pathway that covers in one way or another all of the solutions to bring relief to and or from depression and or the symptoms of depression. The various symptoms of depression manifest in the body, the mind, and the spiritual areas of life. The indigenous, traditional approach is holistic and covers all these areas in concrete ways. We also offer a national directory of Certified Practitioners that can assist you personally. Go to SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Practitioner Directory.

2) Sustainable Eating, healthy diet, and nutrition that are not contaminated, toxic, or GMO and that are appropriate for individual and body type. Strategies that emphasize ” dense nutrition” appropriate for your body type are recommended.

3) Detox: Reduce and or eliminate toxins, both internal and external, i.e., detoxification regimen. This includes reducing the use of chemical pharmaceuticals and or prescriptive drugs used to treat depression, which themselves are dangerous and toxic.

4) Reduce Inflammation, edema, interstitial, and allergy-related symptoms. Consider a Complex Decongestion Therapy protocol. See CDT Protocol.

5) Herbal Medicine: Consider using traditional Herbs and teas with historical and validated use in reducing symptoms of depression, such as St. John’s Wort and Valerian Root.

6) Homeopathic Medicine: Consider using Homeopathic Remedies for depression symptoms. There are quite a few, depending on the patient’s drug profile. This includes the use of “Bach” and similar “Flower Remedies,” such as Bach’s Rescue Remedy.

7) Trace Minerals supplements such as Fulvic/ Humic/ Iodine, etc.

8) Elemental-based Therapies: light, color, sound/ music, nature—earthing/ Grounding, Mineral Crystals, etc.

9) Energy Psychology (SomaVeda® B.E.T./ EFT- TFT etc.)

10) Bio-Magnetic Therapy: (Static Pole Magnetic protocols), PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy)

11) Yoga and Meditation

12) Probiotics: probiotic supplements specifically designed to support positive mood by influencing the guy-brain axis through the micro-biome. The brain-gut axis is a bi-directional communication system comprised of neural pathways, such as the enteric nervous system (ENS), vagus, sympathetic and spinal nerves, and humoral pathways, which include cytokines, hormones, and neuropeptides as signaling molecules.

13) Native American Medicine: Ceremony and Healing: It has been found that participating in traditional Native American Healing and medicine rituals such as “Inipi” or Sacred Sweat Lodge-Temascal, Caseuse or Chanupa Sacred Pipe or Breath Ceremony etc. can have tremendous curative powers over the symptoms of depression. The Native American Indigenous Church offers treatment options for functional medicine in the NAIC Natural Wellness Solutions Tribal Wellness Center and Ceremony on a case-by-case basis.

The inability to cure disease is a deficiency of understanding, rather than a lack or deficiency of remedies.

Sota Magnetic Pulser-mp6 PEMF HF

PEMF Therapy Technology at NWS Health and Wellness Clinic

Sota Magnetic Pulser-mp6 PEMF HF

The Magnetic Pulser generates a pulsed DC magnetic field. The pulsed magnetic field creates gentle microcurrents of electricity. Microcurrents work with the body’s own natural electricity. In addition, the Magnetic Pulser offers the health effects of magnetic energy.

The “Paddle” based system allows for precise targeting of earth energies (PEMF) to local areas of the body improving circulation and expediting healing and recovery, reducing inflammation, swelling and pain. PEMF Therapy has been extensively researched, is non-invasive, safe and effective for many conditions. It is a central component of the Bob C. Beck Protocol for immune disorders. When used in conjunction with a comprehensive wellness and health plan this adjunct modality wellness technology offers a powerful non-drug based alternative to many chemical drugs and or opiate medications.

The Sota Magnetic Pulser MP6 is a high intensity, impulse-driven local system.

This unit has 2 programs – fast (which produces 1 pulse per second) and slow (which produces 1 pulse every 5 seconds).

The maximum intensity is dependent on which program is chosen but cannot be adjusted. For the fast mode, the intensity level is lower, about 2,500 gauss (250,000 microTesla) at the surface of the paddle. For the slow mode, the intensity is 6,000 gauss (600,000 microTesla) at the surface of the paddle. Because of the nature of the signal (being an impulse, not an oscillating frequency), the intensity will decrease with distance more rapidly than with frequency-specific systems.

We can also recommend this unit for home use as well. Ask us if you would like a Sota Pulser for use at home.

The MP6 offers two user modes:
The Regular Mode generates an intense (~6000 Gauss), momentary (~2.5mS) pulsed DC magnetic field approximately every 5-7 seconds. The magnetic field penetrates at least 9 inches (23 cm).
The Fast Mode generates a (~2500 Gauss), momentary (~2.5mS) pulsed DC magnetic field approximately every second. The magnetic field penetrates at least 7 inches
(18 cm).
