A Holistic Health Ayurveda Certificate Provider is a true consultant and specialist in natural, energetic and spiritual healing. Holistic Health Providers are counselors and therapists, teachers and advisers trained in natural therapeutics and whose philosophy is derived in part from a Hippocratic teaching more than 2000 years old: Vis mediatrix naturae – nature is the healer of all diseases. Additionally we believe it is both a spiritual right under established ecclesiastical authority and a human right to practice spiritual or clerical based medicine.
What is natural healing? Natural healing involves moving from a state of non-health into health using only natural means. By “natural” we mean originating in nature or natural processes, safe, non-invasive, holistic, organic, not involving drugs and or surgical procedures. Natural is harnessing the powers of nature as methods to restore harmony and equilibriums of energy, breath, mind, emotions, body and spirit. To bring the whole person into balance and all of their disparate parts into balance. The Holistic practitioner specifically addresses the energy, the Qi or chi, the meridians, the Chakra, the breath, using visualization, guided meditation, focused energy and Yoga Asana accompanied by safe and natural herbs and natural substances and natural energies of electricity, light, sound etc. Holistic Practitioners emphasize lifestyle choices and developing of healthy living habits over quick fixes which might address symptoms but are not sustainable over the long term. We use wellness coaching and guidance in the role of diet, food, nutrition and eating choices in maintaining optimal wellness and health,
A Holistic Health Provider are counselors and therapists, teachers and advisers trained in natural therapeutics and whose philosophy is derived in part from a Hippocratic teaching more than 2000 years old: Vis mediatrix naturae – nature is the healer of all diseases.
The six principles that guide the therapeutic methods and modalities of Holistic Therapies and AYURVEDA include:
First Do No Harm – primum non nocere
Holistic Health Practitioners use therapies that are safe and effective.
The Healing Power of Nature – vis medicatrix naturae
The human body possesses the inherent ability to restore health. The Holistic Health Practitioner’s role is to facilitate this process with the aid of natural based, nontoxic therapies.
Discover and Treat the Cause, Not Just the Effect – tolle causam
Holistic Health Practitioner’s seek and treat the underlying cause of a disease. Symptoms are viewed as expressions of the body’s natural attempt to heal. The origin of disease is removed or treated so the patient can recover. Original causative factors may be mental, physical, emotional and or spiritual. The HHPA may counsel freely on all of the above.
Treat the Whole Person – tolle totum
The multiple factors in health and disease are considered while treating the whole person. Holistic Health Practitioner’s provide flexible treatment programs to meet individual health care needs.
The Healer is a Teacher – docere
The Holistic Health Practitioner’s major role is to educate, empower, and motivate patients to take responsibility for their own health. Creating a healthy, cooperative relationship with the patient has a strong therapeutic value.
Prevention is the best “cure” – praevenire
Holistic Health Practitioner’s are preventive medicine specialists. Holistic Health Practitioner’s assess patient risk factors and heredity susceptibility and intervene appropriately to reduce risk and prevent illness. Prevention of disease is best accomplished through education and a lifestyle that supports health.
The hands on balancing practiced is via traditional spiritually based holistic systems including but not limited to Thai Yoga, Traditional Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese medicine, Western Traditional Naturopathy, Homeopathy, nutrition, eating and supplementation. Strategies to cleanse and detoxify the whole person of everything from parasites to bad energy and vibrations. Techniques and strategies are utilized to bring back to the person all of the resources that might be deficient or missing from the clients life state keeping them from experiencing optimal wellness and sense of harmony and well being in their body, mind and spirit. The SV-HHPA uses psychological counseling, prayer and fasting as well as light and sound and touch to act as the genesis of healing and support. This is the best and perhaps one of the most profound and creative professions in the art and science of healing today!
An SV-HHPA recognizes that the whole person needs to be treated and is able to address the client’s emotional state, while helping to establish a positive balance between body, mind, and spirit. An HHP works on the premise that the body has an innate healing ability and his/her job lies in helping to establish the right environment for self-healing to take place. An HHP uses proven medical clinical assessments as well as intuition and direct observation and conversation/ communication to form a sound basis for life changing recommendations. The HHPA counsels, informs, educates and co-facilitates healing and wellness for clients in the absence of overt medical pathology. An HHP is an advocate for the person to seek balance and harmony in the truest sense of natural health. Holistic health practice in no means is a substitute for competent medical care.
Additionally, graduates are trained to be practiced and competent communicators and teachers. Education and communication may be the most powerful healing tools of all! Our graduates are certified to teach and to give independent certification in the SomaVeda™ curriculum for CTP (Certified Thai Yoga Practitioner #1,2,3 and 4) program. What is a Holistic Health Practitioner Ayurveda?
A Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) is a person trained in various areas of holistic healing, including Traditional Oriental Healing methods and science, Ayurveda, SomaVeda™ Thai Yoga, Herbal Medicine, Holistic Nutrition, Energetic, Vibrational and Body-Mind Medicine, etc. An HHP should possess a healthy minded, non-invasive, holistic philosophy, treat the whole person rather than the disease and consider nutritional needs as well as emotional state of the client. Only the most safe, natural, non-invasive, holistic and legal remedies are used and or recommended. An HHPA is also an expert certified teacher of SomaVeda Thai Yoga Therapy.
Can I take extra time to complete the program?
The amount of time varies from student to student. Some finish in 18 to 24 months, others take up to three years to complete their studies. The HHPA program is equivalent to a four year program based on clock hours. There is no set time limit, so you can take as long as you like. However, we do feel that in order to maintain your momentum it is best to study on a regular basis rather than just once or twice a month.
What are the legal implications of practicing/ counseling as a SomaVeda Holistic Health Practitioner?
The HHPA Program dedicates an entire module to the legalities of practicing as a Holistic Practitioner in the United States. We’ll teach you all the right tools to protect yourself and offer disclaimer forms to have signed by your clients. No Certification or Diploma from any private school automatically guarantees you a license to practice. The same goes for Naturopathic Board Certification via ANCAB/ ANMA. Diploma and Boards establish professional recognition of peers and credibility of expertise. Licensing gives you the legal right to practice. However, our programs are recognized with International recognitions and affiliations and graduates are eligible for Medical Licensing through the ONACS and or SMOCH. Licensing is not automatic, nor is it required a separate application is required for licensing.
What’s the difference between conventional and spiritually based natural or holistic medicine?
Focus of conventional state mandated, corporate medicine is to treat the disease or symptoms for profit, using harmful chemicals with possible deadly side effects. SomaVeda Holistic Health therapies treat the whole person, mind, body and spirit, emotions and the physical, and works on strengthening the whole persons innate healing ability through the use of counseling, herbs, nutrition and other holistic, non-invasive natural and spiritually focused healing modalities..
The Undergraduate Diploma Program in Natural Medicine ( 2,045 hours/ 56 Credit Hours):
There are 1,017 clock hours of academic (online) study, which is coupled with 1,028 hours of in-class/ hands on seminars, workshops, and clinical observations. Practitioners of the healing arts, e.g. Massage therapists, Nutritionists, Acupuncturists, Nurses, etc., may apply for advanced status and life experience. Each candidate is appraised on an individual status.
