Thai Yoga Therapy Role in Cancer Palliation

I was first introduced to the concept of “tapping” to balance energy in the meridians by late Grand Master of Thai Medicine, Aachan, Moh Boontum Kitniwan in 1988. The technique in Thai is referred to as “Tok Sen” (Hit the Line). In 1991, I was introduced to a Japanese variation by master of Shiatsu, Toshiko Phipps.

The initial techniques Toshi introduced to me were performed with a little wooden hammer and a wooden probe (Manaka Hammer). We would do a pulse and or Hara assessment to determine which meridians and corresponding points would need balancing and then apply the probe and tapp it with the hammer. Toshi also related to me that it was her understanding that originally the technique was part of Tibetan and Chinese acupuncture. My feeling and understanding of what these various masters told me is that the use is quite ancient and was practiced in some form or another throughout Asia and Southeast Asia.

In 1990, I was blessed to begin working with an amazing Professor of Traditional Thai Medicine in Chiangmai (Santitham), Northern Thailand. Her name was Aachan Lek Chaiya affectionately known as Mama Lek. She taught a Northern Thai varient of Tok Sen technique called Jap Sen Nuad Phaen Boran Lanna Thai as part of her Lek Chaiya Nerve Touch Massage and Therapy. Mama Lek was one of my teachers who shared not only her beautiful traditional methods with me but she made me laugh and always find the joy in the practical expression of loving kindness. Tapping was energy and spirit based, functional medicine and always accompanied by or with a prayer for healing.

I have worked hard to develop integration strategies and a finer understanding of exactly how it works and why it works. I’m just that way! I have included first discussion and then a hard focus with technique and application in every 200 Hr. SomaVeda® Certified Thai Yoga Practitioner program I’ve conducted for over 13 years. Once Gary Craig introduced me to his “EFT” (Emotional Freedom Technique), I saw the synergy and decided to commit to mastering this powerful tool and to teach it to every student and to every client. The main contribution I received from Gary Craig’s research and practice ideas was the emphasis on balancing negative emotions. The more we work with it the more its power to support total healing has been proven time and again.

We call the specific integration of Tapping/ Tok Sen/ Jap Sen into our comprehensive healing work, SomaVeda® BIO-TAPP or B.E.T.™ For more detailed and specific insight and the Principe’s on which the Bio-Tapp is based on please order a copy of my book “The SomaVeda Bio-Tapp/ BET Manual”.

SomaVeda® B.E.T>/ Bio-Tapping

Think about how your life is impacted by negative emotions. If for no other reason consider the elegant and simple ideas to bring healing to this area of your life. Millions of people around the world are enslaved to the western psychological systems based on commerce and coercive therapies such as psychiatric drugs, ECT (Electro-Convulsive Therapy) and the like. Western Psychological based therapies have proven to be ineffective and in many cases more life disturbing than the original disorders which they were supposed to treat in the first place. Patients and their families are enslaved because they have been led to believe there are no reasonable alternatives and they are helpless in the face of their negative emotions, fears, phobia, compulsions, depressions, anxieties and neurosis. By adding and incorporating spiritually based, effective, safe and reliable methods for releasing and balancing our negative emotions we empower ourselves and our clients.

The BET technique works to integrate the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual bodies with greater integration, less distortion and disturbances caused originally by Old Unresolved Negative Emotional Issue’s (NEMO’s).

As ministers of healing expressing our sacred religious duties by healing the sick and infirm, we take vows to DO NO HARM. It is always important that the sum of our therapeutic interventions do not become the source of suffering for our patients and clients. It is important that we use therapies that express our philosophy and which represent the least invasive and most productive remedy possible.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga (and or Thai Massage) indigenous, traditional, holistic healing therapies have always been about bringing light and life into every part of the person, these therapies are an example of what true medicine is for mind, body and spirit.
